Hey all,

After a week of meddling with the Bios config, I have the PERFECT BIOS Set Up for Kaly 10.5.2! The MSI p6n SLI plat MoBo is one of the hardest to configure because there's so many things that it doesn't have that a Gigabyte or Asus do. But still, I got it almost fully working on an IDE drive with Dual Boot using GParted Live. There is no Time Machine error or shut down error and it's fully bootable on an IDE drive, I haven't figured out how to get it working on a SATA HDD with an IDE DVD drive. Leo just hangs at the grey boot screen.

My rig is:

Intel C2D e6300 1.86ghz oc'd to 2.20ghz fully recognized.

xfx nVidia 8800gts 512mb GPU fully working, no glitches

Realtek ACL888 HDA fully working OOB

The only 2 things stopping me from fully hanging up my OSX gloves is getting the Realtek 8211bl LAN working, it recognizes the card, but assigns it's own IP which is a no-no since I have a linksys router.

The other thing, which locks up my system is the USB, I have so many USB components that are normally hooked up, Leo doesn't recognize any of them...except, my logitech wireless mouse and keyboard who's transmitter is USB and a PSX to USB adapter for my emulated games.

I've searched and searched and searched and haven't found anything helpful for the USB thing or the LAN issue.

If anyone out there has my same MOBO and has had a successful internet connection or even a working USB solution, please advise!!! :P

Also, if anyone has a fix for dual booting off a SATA HDD, that would be great also!

If anyone needs the config for this MOBO, just let me know :)

Biggity biggity Bump!

1. What does System Profiler show under USB?......USB High-Speed Bus should show up....with for example

Host Controller Location:	Expansion Slot
 Host Controller Driver:	AppleUSBEHCI
 PCI Device ID:	0x036d
 PCI Revision ID:	0x00a2
 PCI Vendor ID:	0x10de
 Bus Number:	0x2b

2. Your kernel version and system.kext version should match.....check your kernel version using

uname -a

in Terminal and your system.kext version via System/Library/Extenstions/System.kext and Show Pacakge Contents in Info.plist under CFBundleVersion?....they should match......my version is 9.2.0......for both USB and Firewire to work properly, although for Firewire file transfers I find that booting OS X with "cpus=1 maxmem=2048" is necessary for an "unbroken" connection during file transfer.

Also in Terminal, run
kextstat | grep "USB"
to show what USB related kexts have been loaded when you boot up....

My loaded USB related kexts are:

39 6 0x4979f000 0x28000 0x27000 com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily (3.1.5) <7 6 5 4>

40 0 0x497f6000 0xb000 0xa000 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBOHCI (3.1.0) <39 17 6 5 4>

46 0 0x49a1e000 0x12000 0x11000 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBEHCI (3.1.5) <39 17 7 6 5 4>

49 0 0x49b51000 0x2000 0x1000 com.apple.iokit.IOUSBUserClient (3.0.7) <39 6 5 4>

50 0 0x49ba2000 0xb000 0xa000 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBHub (3.1.5) <39 6 5 4>

58 0 0x49dc6000 0x4000 0x3000 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBComposite (3.0.0) <39 5 4>

59 0 0x49e65000 0x5000 0x4000 com.apple.iokit.IOUSBHIDDriver (3.1.0) <39 25 6 5 4>

we can then see what is going on....... ;)
