I have been trying everything I know to do. Granted i am a noob but I have tried kalyway, leo4allv3, and now the new jas disk all with no luck. they all install just fine but i can never boot to the os when i kick the disc out.

I am not working with the new jas disk and it gets to the white apple screen and the wheel starts turning below it and it hangs there. ANY IDEAS OR COMMANDS I COULD TRY???

I tried cpus=1 -x

Laptop specs are as followed:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz, 4MB cache

250gb sata hdd

2gb of ram

Thanks!

You can maybe try to change your bios with the version found there: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...&pid=811350

It is for a y510 but I am not sure if it works for all y510. I haven't tried this bios. I have ordered that laptop (core 2 t5750, 250 gb, x3100 graphics version) and should receive it this weeks so you'll have more news from here in the coming days ! I just hope it will work fine and that I'll be able to put a N mini-pcie wireless card.

Like I said, I didn't try it yet since I didn't received the laptop. But, usually there are 2 ways to do a BIOS update. If we're lucky we can put the files on a cd or usb stick, go in the laptop BIOS and run a utility for a BIOS update. But usually, you have to boot in Windows, use Lenovo's program (probably found on one of the CDs they gave with the laptop or on their website) to update bios.

BUT again try it at your own risk!!! If you mess up the bios update or if this file is not working right with your laptop, there is a chance that your laptop won't boot AT ALL !

I finally received my laptop yesterday. I was able to install Jas 10.5.4 on it. First, here is how my laptop is set:

I first boot vista and setup my windows how I want it because I prefer to keep a dual boot as long as my leopard isn't entirely stable. So I uninstall somestuff and installed others in vista. Lenovo partitioned my drive as the following :

~180gb for c:

~20gb for d: (nothing in that)

the rest for their own recovery partition.

I used acronis true image to make a clone of my disk on another hdd in order to come back later if needed.

I then used acronis disk director to delete the 20 gb partition, resize the c: to 35 gb or something and created a new fat32 with the free space. I left the recovery partition intact.

Then I boot into jas 10.5.4 dvd.

I formated the fat32 partition into the rigth mac format. I didn't repartition the drive in disk utility, so I left the drive MBR.

For the settings now:

The vanilla kernel didn't seemed to work in all of my tries. BUT the ToH 10.5.4 kernel did. I selected x11, alc888, intel ichx in chipset section, intel lpc, intel ich7 to ich9, superhai smbios, smbios 667 and that's pretty much it.

After the install, I booted in vista, installed easybcd (google it) in order to make the dual boot (there are other ways but that is how I did it). I rebooted, choosed leopard, type as options: "-v cpus=1" (without quotes) and it booted. I don't know why but "cpus=1 -v" didn't work, can someone explain me ?

To my surprise at the leopard screen, it wasn't able to find my laptop keyboard and trackpad, eventhough I selected Generic ps2 nub version fix during the installation. Maybe you also have to check also ACPIPS2nub or only that one (try it and tell me). So I had to use a usb keyboard and mouse, but I found a file named appleps2controller.kext that solved my problem.

So now, the things that do not work are :

- powermanagement for the laptop

- sleep, and wake from it because it can't wake up.

- Ethernet cable, at the moment I didn't find a way to make it work.

- wifi (normal and won't work)

- It only sees 1 core for the moment, maybe the hacked bios update will make it work, but I am not about to test it.

- the display freezes when you try to switch between displays, although if you boot with a second monitor plugged in it will work but only as extended, not mirror.

"BUT the ToH 10.5.4 kernel did. I selected x11, alc888, intel ichx in chipset section, intel lpc, intel ich7 to ich9, superhai smbios, smbios 667 and that's pretty much it. "

where are all the options???? I see the x11 thing under customize but thats it. are they located somewhere Im not looking?

After i installed with all the settings stated above when i restarted it says error:boot1 and it wont boot back into vista.

not a big deal if i have to redo vista but was just wondering why it didnt work.

It may be becuase i didnt use Acronis Disk Director Suite instead i just shrink the c by 70gb and formatted with a ntfs volume (my only option under disk management). then used that in the disk utility and formated extended journaled and installed. then got the error:boot 1 message?

went back and got Acronis Disk Director Suite 10 made a 97gb mac fat32 patition inside of windows. formated it with the disk utility as mac extended journaled got all the settings right, restarted and all it says is error:boot1

Is there something I am suspose to select in the disk utility to get vista to boot back up after installation?????

installed with all the settings mentioned about and everything boots up ok but it doesnt see my keyboard or touchpad. I hooked a usb mouse and keyboard up and go through the setup hit z and ? and then I get to the transfer stuff or not and i choose not to and after a bit it goes back to the keyboard setup again. Any ideas?????????????//

Thanks for all the help

i selected both of them the guy that did it before said the same thing happend to him and he just used a usb keyboard.

I have tried 3 different usb keyboards and like i say it sees it becuase i have to hit z and then ? for it to continue.

but it loops back to it after i select that i dont want to transfer anything.

when i type passwd root

it says launch_msg() socket is not connected unable to open dir node with name /Local/Default unable to open node

when i type touch var/db/.AppleSetupDone

it says touch: var/db/.AppleSetupDone: Read-only file system

any ideas??? I dont have to type anything to mount the file system????

when I type exit and try to boot it goes to the keyboard setup again =[
