Hi All,

First of all thanks alot for this great resource for sharing and learning.

I got idenebe image of the demons, burned it to a dvd, then tried to install on my external HDD (USB - Self Powered).

Installation went fine, recognized the HDD, formatted and all complete. I selected vanilla kernel in my first attempt, but when it completes installation it restarts, then boots of my USB HDD fine, but after the apple logo , suddenly it distorts the graphics and only i can see is 'Lines' in black and white.

Machine is :

Sony Vaio VGN NR32L, GMAX3100, 2GB DDRII, Speedstep Processor 1.86Ghz Core2DUO.

Any help ? Would love to have osx86 on a external drive.

Kind Regards

Mutahir

Hey

I am new here and I downloaded all required OS like iATKOS 1.0i, iATKOS 2.0i, iATKOS 4i and Leopard patched version(4.37Gb) and burn on DVD but none of them detecting during boot process. I want to know that do I need to extract .ISO file or no. If I need to then it just extract file in kb size. plus If i have to burn a iso file on DVD then only .ISO file or MD5 file too. I seriously need help to install MAC on my PC ( Sony vaio VGN - N385E - SSE2/3 compatible) once I am able boot then I will be fine fot rest of the installation process. If you can help me to install MAC on pc. please......

Thanks in Advance.

First thing you must learn......

DON'T hijack other people's threads!!!! -_-

DON'T just create topics before you have searched! Your problem is well documented!

Your issue has nothing to do with the original poster's problem! If you would like to make enemies QUICKLY, this is the way to do it!

@mutahir

It seems that you have a refresh rate issue, this is a know problem with the GMA X3100! I have a link to kexts that I use on my machine to get it working without having to use a program called "SwitchRes" hope it solves your problem!?

Hello Sticman,

Thanks for your reply, I will today test this out, I have a question though :

As OSX is on my External HDD, I installed Macdrive and can now copy the kext's you have linked in the post directly into system library extensions. Is there any thing else I need to do to make those kext's working , as once booted with osx i can't access the command line to install kext's

Thanks so much for your tip

I look forward to your reply

Mutahir

Thanks SticMan for your prompt response, I shall try this tonite and update here as well.

whats the command in safe mode to repair permissions :-) sorry for being dumb

Thanks and regards

Mutahir

Update : Thanks SticMan, I installed the kext's you provided in the link, copied them via mac drive into the proper folder, then rebooted with my external hdd, got into single user mode with -s option, but it gave me the error firewire can't determine secure mode or something.

Then I booted with the OSX86 denebe dvd and repaired permissions on my external hdd OSX Partition, rebooted again, it went to the grey screen with apple logo but went white screen with light color lines and the apple welcome music was playing in background clearly without distortion of any kind.

After having a browse thru on these and other forums, the link to the updated kexts which are I think from Leopard's graphic update didn't work, can you provide me the link to the updated GMAX3100 Kexts or the one you provided are the new ones.

I will be really grateful for your help

try with an external monitor.....

If you go and delete all the:

AppleIntelGMA*.kexts AND the AppleIntelIntergratedFramebuffer.kext and Natit.kext, you should be able to boot up in "VGA" mode, then in VGA mode try installing my kexts with KextHelper!

Remember to install the Natit.kext with all the others!

If that doesn't work, delete them again, load a small program called SwitchRes, set a custom resolution to that of your screens capabilities BUT with only 60Hz, reboot once and install my kexts again

if you follow the onscreen writing it clearly says:

"If you want to make modifications to files:

/sbin/fsck -fy

/sbin/mount -uw

If you wish to boot the system:

exit

"

so you have to run these two commands before you can edit anything on the drive:

/sbin/fsck -fy

/sbin/mount -uw

Remember you have to boot from the HDD into safe mode!

SticMAN

Thanks Sticman,

I am going to try your suggested steps now, and will post the result ASAP

Mutahir

Edit :

@Sticman, I followed your steps, did a complete re-install (formatted ext usb) selected vanilla kernel, didn't selected any graphic drivers, just fixes for smbios and acpi, then once the installation was finished, it restarted but the same graphical screen with black and white lines, then went into vista , using mac drive i deleted gma950 and x3100 kexts frm system/library/extensions (even though I did'nt selected any at install), then rebooted with -x into osx but when it loads the first screen the music is playing and i can see the text clearly but it says "No Keyboard detected - please connect your keyboard"

Getting no where in -s mode as when it tells you that file system is read only and u have to do /sbin/fsck thing it won't let me type anything and just stalls.

any help ??

That is the "other" known issue!!

You will need to load these files also from windows, it will give you keyboard/mouse and a battery meter!!

It is a zip file and includes instructions on how to install:

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?xnzalybxyz2

ONLY install the ps2 fix first, you can do the powermangement kext for the battery meter later

Hi SticMan,

Sorry for updating so late, I have been trying all the steps you mentioned (selecting vanilla kernel always ), I used macdrive to change the files for the ps2fix, i changed the apple acpiplatform.kext which was in the download you mentioned, but it still gives the same error.(No KB Mouse).

Also, sometimes it just comes up with the black/white screen.

any help

Kind Regards

Mutahir
