Riley Freeman
AppleYukon2: 00000000,00000001 sk98osx sky2 - - sk98osx_sky2::replaceOrCopyPacket tried N times From reading around it seems that some onboard NICs and Leopard do not mix well. But I was just wondering if there is any fix/workaround for this bug which causes the line to drop momentarily. I had it happen earlier with almost no network load. I'm using the stock IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.5.4 with an edited info.plist in the AppleYukon2.kext to add support for my 88E8056 (copied the 88E8053 section and changed a few lines). Should have used "Yukon-88E8055-B0". Riley Freeman
Thanks. I'll give that a try. I notice that section has an extra setting for InitialWaitForLinkUp. Maybe that'll be the key. bruin4life
I have this replaceorcopypacket error too. This is with the AppleYukon2.kext modded for the 88e8056 marvell yukon. It usually happens when I'm downloading torrents (alot at the same time). I don't know if its the driver itself, or Transmission's 1.3x current problems they are having. Riley Freeman
I think it's the kext itself. I can trigger the error by simply browsing to my iBook in Network and connecting to it as a registered user. That's enough to cause it, so load isn't the issue. Right now I'm using the AppleYukon.kext from 10.4.8. I haven't seen the replaceOrCopyPacket error with this one yet. In fact it doesn't give any errors in use. Just "TWSI: transfer does not complete" during start up. The newer ones (from 10.4.10 and 10.4.11) also give a "Pwr-SavingsEED - failed to get APCI devices" error during boot. bruin4life
ya i have both the twsi error and the power saving error too when i start up. but is the replaceorcopypacket error really that bad?? or is it one of those things handled by the os rather well. Riley Freeman
I don't know. I haven't pushed my network enough to know which error coincides with network drops. I'm assuming for now that it's replaceOrCopyPacket (it's also the only error I've seen reported during usage. the others only pop up on startup). Seeing as you're using Transmission and getting these drops how about trying a edited AppleYukon.kext instead and see if it runs any better? You should probably move/delete AppleYukon2.kext too so it doesn't conflict. Worth a shot. bruin4life
I have. I've deleted AppleYukon and am running only AppleYukon2. Seems to be working rather well I think, despite those weird errors. Riley Freeman
So you were getting the dropouts with the older AppleYukon too? I'll stick with it until I start putting it under some heavy load. I did most of my "testing" by transferring a 4gb file over and back between Leo install and iBook. I'll try AppleYukon2 again when 10.5.5 comes out (if it's updated). Bart86
I'm getting this error to with a retail install and an older IONetworkingFamily.kext which shows "Version 1.6.0 (Sabr's Modded Version). I'm loading with .mkext in /Extras with Chamelon and 10.5.6. This is a fresh install on a Q6600 system that I've run several flavors os osx on. This is the first virgin install I've done with a retail disk. I only started noticing the errors in the system.log while downloading several torrents with Transmission 1.42. There are only 3 or 4 instances of the error. Seems to be fine and not really dropping the connection. Downloading is screaming fast...faster than I've ever seen it, so I'm not too worried.
