Outcasst
Hi there. This is my first post on this forum Anyways, here's the problem. I installed version 10.5.2, audio did not work. I managed to find a guide on this website telling me how to get it working. At last I had sound! Next, I tried to do the 10.5.3/4 update, however it wouldn't let me boot into OSX after that so i "repaired" the OSX install. Now, I do not hear any sound. I looked in the sound panel in preferences and under the output devices tab, all that appears in the box is HD Audio Output. Before the re-install, I could see a number of options such as Line in, In built speakers, headphones and line out. I followed the exact same steps again that got my sound working in the first place from a fresh install, yet no avail. Still no sound. Is there any way to "remove" the device or uninstall the driver temporarily like you can in windows? Or am i buggered? I'm trying to put off a complete format of the drive and starting from scratch again, as I have set everything up just the way I like it. Thank you for reading, and hopefully your help. Steve. What guide did you follow? You simply have to use the AppleHDAPatcher by Taruga with the correct codec dump for ALC889A... I already uploaded the patcher and the codec dump for someone else. you can download it here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QI2EIHCH Just try to use this patcher, I think it will help you... If this wont work I could also send you my ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext and you can overwrite your old kexts... macsandy
Hi Lintendo, I have GA-EP35-DS4 with ALC889A. (Running Kalyway 10.5.3 + 10.5.4) I downloaded the file uploaded by you, but still I don't have mic or any other sound output (Only HD Sound Output). I am also getting Hissing noise in the speakers. The codec dump text file in the zip file shows ALC885. Does this work for ALC889A? Thanks a lot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/120588-alc889a-trouble/#findComment-867820 Share on other sites
limini
Big thanks Lintendo for the download: I've been looking for this for a while. I used it on a GA-EP35-DS3P and this is what I get in audio properties: Output: Internal Speakers Headphones Line Out Digital Out Input: Internal Microphone Line In Line Out* *Yes! "Line Out" in the inputs. Also, I guess the AppleHDA thinks the computer has internal audio. And there's nothing in System Profiler. Perhaps I should try the very last AppleHDA.kext Taruga made for the 885/889A, here... The 889A technically has the following I/O: Backplane: Center/Subwoofer Rear L/R Out Side L/R Out Line In L/R Line Out L/R (Front) Microphone In SPDIF Digital Out 1 On motherboard: Microphone In 2 Line Out L/R 2 SPDIF Digital In (Mobo SPDIF Digital Out 2 is for audio transmission through a Graphics Card's HDMI port) It would be nice to see all this in the preferences. I don't see why it would be impossible, but perhaps there are reasons. I'd be curious to know if this is possible. But we seem to have lost our audio champion: Taruga seems to have crawled away into the deep dark seas Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/120588-alc889a-trouble/#findComment-869080 Share on other sites
