karlcloudy
Hi, I am the proud owner of an Acer Aspire 3000 laptop, and I am trying to get a valid Hackintosh operating system on my computer. My specs are the following: 1.2GB of RAM Mobile AMD Sempron 3000+ (32 bit, supports SSE3) running at 1.8Ghz 40GB HDD (IDE) PS/2 Touchpad and keyboard (doesn't seem to be supported, but I have wireless mouse and a USB keyboard) SiS Integrated Graphics (SiS M760GX) (doesn't seem to be supported) 8x DVD-ROM/CD-RW Optical Drive ALC203 AC'97 Audio controller (doesn't seem to be supported) I have made several attempts to install OS X onto my spare 10GB HFS+ partition I have made. I have succeeded a couple of times, but have had to reinstall it (twice). Since installing, I have tried to reinstall, but I have A LOT of trouble with burning and reading the various Hackintosh OS discs. DIsc 1 (Kalyway 10.5.2 Intel, AMD): Worked perfectly the first time, however, the second time I [tried to] install it, it stopped telling me it couldn't verify the content of 'BaseSystem' package. I had skipped the disc consistency check, so the next time round, I allowed it to complete the check, which worked fine for my second install, but on the third, it would go through the disc check and fail on the install with either cannot verify BaseSystem, or cannot verify Essentials package errors. I gave up on this one, figuring it may have been scratched too much. Disc 2 (Leo4Allv2 10.5.2 Intel, AMD): DId not work at all (failed consistency check and skipping it meant it failed quite early on), so I seeked another disc from my DVD burning friend... Disc 3 (Leo4All...): My friend with his computer installed this disc with no problem before handing it over to me to install on my computer. As expected, it passed the consistency check, however, it is STILL giving me package fail troubles, and after many attempts with various discs, Im starting to get very annoyed and wondering if there is a better way to do this. He also burnt this disc at a low speed (4x I think) and the disc was not scratched at all. WHat I am wondering, is if there is an easy fix for my problem, or whether my DVD drive is inadequate for this task. I don't have too many options in regards to replacement, obtaining another drive, etc. I would be happy if there was a way to section off a partition on my hard drive (or a partition off my 120GB external that I own) and boot from that if it is possible to prevent the "{censored} disc" errors that I keep having.
