  1. Toshiba L850 no Turbo Boost or intermediate P states

Nah, but removing NullCPUPowerManagement and turning on Clover's IntelCPUPM patch option to deal with the locked MSR has fixed the issue . I had already installed FakeSMC, the PS2 and battery kexts before beginning this. The only thing I haven't gotten working is the HDMI, since I haven't been able to get a DSDT patch working for that (and it's Insyde, so I assume the AMI patch isn't going to work for it although I did try it). I don't use HDMI audio very often anyway, and I have the ALC269VC working anyway so it's all good. Full complement of P states now reported properly using MSRDumper: 29/11/2013 02:47:56.000 kernel[0]: MSRDumper CoreMulti(12) 29/11/2013 02:47:56.000 kernel[0]: MSRDumper PStatesReached: 12 22 25 28 29 31 Thanks for your help, I should have checked what kexts were loaded before assuming NullCPUPowerManagement hadn't reared it's ugly head
  2. Toshiba L850 no Turbo Boost or intermediate P states

OK, it does appear to be loaded. I have looked into it further and it is in /S/L/E.... but it doesn't show up in finder which is where I was looking for it. Can see it on the directory listing in terminal though, so I'll delete it and report back. HACKBOOK-PRO:~ karl$ kextstat | grep -y nullcpu 13 0 0xffffff7f8087f000 0x2000 0x2000 org.tgwbd.driver.NullCPUPowerManagement (1.0.0d2) <7 4 3>
  3. Toshiba L850 no Turbo Boost or intermediate P states

Nah, I forgot to mention that I haven't got that in there . This system doesn't get the AICPUPM kernel panic with the stock 10.9 kext it would seem.
  4. Hello, I'm running Mavericks on my Toshiba L850 and haven't had much luck getting more than 2 P States working so far. I've tried a few things, but no matter what I always only seem to have 12x and 25x multipliers (CPU is 3210M) with no intermediate or turbo states. I am using CloverEFI even though this is a UEFI system as this Insyde based UEFI appears to have major issues booting OS X (will freeze a little while after logging in and requires the Aptio fix to even start booting). This system uses a Radeon 7670M with no switchable graphics functionality, so the Intel HD 4000 doesn't exist here. So far I have tried: Using Clover to automatically generate the SSDT with various settings for Generating P states and C states Leaving the default OEM SSDT in place Dropping OEM SSDT and not having clover create one (still get 12x, 25x) Using ssdtPrGen to produce an SSDT for this CPU for Clover to use Various SMBIOS profiles (currently on MacBookPro9,2, but did try MacMini6,2 and iMac13,2 All of these with no luck. I have attached the SSDT and DSDT I'm currently using to this post Am I missing something obvious or is there something more nefarious going on? Thanks
  5. Toshiba L850 7670M LVDS problems

Ahh yes, I had a feeling it may have been in 16-bit (despite saying 32-bit in System Profiler) as I was getting a banding effect on gradients. I decided to delve further into the Clover issue and had a look through the source code to see what had been changed (yes, they have changed it ) with the config.plist and worked out how to inject the property string into Clover (Now it's under Devices/Properties. After doing that and plonking the default AMD6000Controller kext (with no patches), I am getting full 32-bit colour (banding gone) and the phantom VGA display has vanished (and HDMI still works fine, apart from audio, which wasn't working before anyway). My Samsung LCD panel has turned into an LG one now though (I didn't alter your device properties string, so it has your EDID in it I imagine). This isn't a problem as it displays perfectly anyway and everything still works fine. The AtiConnector patching doesn't look like it's changed though, so I'm not sure why that particular setting wouldn't work for me. How the "new" config.plist injects devices: <key>Devices</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <true/> <key>Properties</key> <string>blahblahblah... Device string here</string> ... Other settings... ... </dict> Thanks for your help
  6. Toshiba L850 7670M LVDS problems

It seems that I was able to get it working with only a personality change patch in AMD6000Controller.kext. The key element was to change the encoder for the LVDS output to 0x01 instead of 0x00. One issue is that Clover connector patching doesn't seem to work for me (hence why I patched the kext directly), although they seem to have changed the structure in the later versions, so perhaps it needs to be specified another way now. The only issue I have now is a phantom VGA display that I can't seem to get rid of (except via AtiPorts -- this disables the HDMI though, which I'd rather avoid, since I do use it sometimes). If I plug a HDMI display in, the VGA display disappears (probably something to do with the 2 output limit the 7670M has) and the HDMI works normally. If I do plug a VGA monitor in (with no HDMI), an image is displayed, so it seems the ability for it to sense that there is no VGA display connected is what is broken, rather than it being a fake output. EDID patching also resulted in issues, since any deviation from the dumped EDID from the montior (I changed the first part of basic params from 80 to 90 for the gradient fix before I tried the LVDS encoder change) would result in Clover displaying in 1024x768 immediately (instead of native), then in OSX, the monitor would detected as generic once more. Leaving the dumped EDID in and injecting that worked fine, so I'm not sure what's going on there (I don't currently have an explicit DSDT patch specified, so perhaps this is why?). Backlight control works perfectly with that EDID injection as well, no other settings necessary . This is the personality override I used (for Pondweed as it is the closest match): 02000000 40000000 0901 0000 10 01 00 07 - LVDS 00080000 00020000 0001 0000 11 02 01 01 - HDMI 10000000 10000000 0001 0000 00 01 02 08 - VGA I did have the display detection working properly at one stage (except with the bad LVDS encoder), but cannot remember what made it work correctly (I did have a few versions that I had patched) to patch it into my current Pondweed personality. Not sure what settings I should be looking at adjusting (perhaps HotplugID?) for fixing this. Thanks for your help so far, it's greatly appreciated
  7. Toshiba L850 7670M LVDS problems

Hello, I've been trying to get the graphics working on my Toshiba L850 which uses a 7670M (rebranded 6000 series chip) and Clover. Using Clover, I've been able to get the LVDS internal display to output an image, but it appears corrupted like this: I have tried setting a Custom EDID (as opposed to allowing Clover to generate it on it's own), but it doesn't make any difference. Apart from the corrupt image, other outputs work fine and the brightness control for the internal display also works fine. I did have to modify the dual-link option on config.plist for clover to get this image (setting it to 0), using the default setting resulted in an even more corrupt image (since it's a 1366x768 panel, it shouldn't be using dual link afaik). The HDMI output works fine with no corruption in both mirror and extended mode. VGA doesn't function at all on the brief tests I did with a few framebuffers, but I am not concerned about VGA output, so it doesn't bother me. Things I have tried: Using chameleon - cannot get the internal LCD to work at all in accelerated mode, with any combination of settings Messing about the the framebuffer personalities in AMD6000Controller - my LVDS display has an odd sense id (7), but worked fine (with the corruption mentioned above) with cattail's default settings. Pondweed would produce a blank, but backlit display (although patched with a connector that had sense id of 7, seemed to work the same as cattail). Other framebuffers produced either one of the above situations, or same as pondweed, but with no backlight at all. Manual EDID override (messing with /System/Library/Displays/...) My config.plist for clover: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> 8. Yeah, I had tried that. Since then I've done a little bit of experimentation and have come to the conclusion the migration definitely was the cause. I reinstalled without doing the migration, checked the Security & Privacy pane again and it worked. Then did the migration using the Migration Assistant, but this time with Settings deselected. It still broke the Security & Privacy pane, so I'm not sure what the go is there. I'll probably stick with a clean install, but would have been nice to be able to migrate.
  9. For some reason, when I try to open Security & Privacy in System Preferences, it just sits there and doesn't do anything. Besides being annoying, it's also preventing me from changing the app security settings. I did do a migration from a Time Machine backup when I installed it and are wondering if this could have had anything to do it. Any ideas? 10. This is a bit of a weird one. When I attempt to open files from an NTFS volume, finder claims it cannot launch the application and won't open the file. This occurs with any file type and still occurs even selecting an application from the "Open With..." menu. It occurs with any NTFS volume I've tried it on (an external HDD, another partition on the internal disk it's installed on being two examples), but never occurs on exFAT or HFS+ volumes, files will open fine from these. Files can still be opened, but instead of launching them from finder, I must use the "Open" dialog in the respective application to open the file (or use drag and drop -- this seems to work as long as it's an application window and not an icon, that doesn't seem to work). Can't seem to find an answer from Googling, wondering whether I must have missed something... System specs (doubt these are too relevant apart from the OS tbh): Intel Pentium G620 Gigabyte H61-D2-B3 4GB RAM Nvidia GTX 260 Mac OS X 10.7.2 (has happened since the install which was 10.7.1 however) / iATKOS L1

I have iDeneb 10.5.6 running, but at this point I have not been able to get my Gigabyte GTX 275 card working. Any attempts to get it working have resulted in a bricked installation (no display output and the monitor turns off to save power even with -x). Is it even possible to get this card working on 10.5.6? Thanks in advance
  12. Turns out all I needed to do was flash my BIOS with a patched version. It was hard to find a patched version though . I the end I did find the BIOS that was for my motherboard and one that was up to date (version 2004). After flashing it worked fine
  13. I've noticed if I boot from a Kalyway 10.5.2 disk and specify rd=disk2s2 (the location of my mac partition), the system boots up and runs fine. It seems I need a DSDT patch from what I've been hearing around here, but I have a recent ASUS P5Q3 BIOS (2105). Even the older BIOS I have been able to find don't work, because the links are broken. I've also seen this DSDT patcher, but I have no idea how I am to use it to patch my system or whether it is for fixing the issue I'm having.
  14. Hi, I'm having trouble getting my Leopard to boot up on my ASUS P5Q3 motherboard. The install was completely successful, however, the system will not make it's first boot up and locks up on some "using 16xxx clusters..." line. I am wondering what would be causing this to occur. I have the following hardware: ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe WiFi-AP @n Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 4GB Corsair XMS3 Nvidia GTX 275 Graphics card Thanks for the help

I own one of these cards and can confirm this wireless card has a Ralink chipset, and you have two options: 1: Install the mac driver from the CD that came with it (which is {censored} anyway); 2: Install the Ralink package when you install Mac OS X (it is called RT2500-RT73-USB) from the wireless section
