vwbus
I've been searching for quite some time on how to find the answers to my questions, but I'm a noob at this so I don't even know if I'm using the correct terminology. I've installed OS X from a Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD. The system is up but certain things aren't working. First my hardware: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L MB with built in Audio and Lan XFX GeForce 8500 GT with 512 MB Ram There are really only two issues that I'm having with the above hardware. 1. The video only does 1024 x 768 so I'm supposing that I've got to do some patch to the video. After searching the site I read how to do this at installation, but I've already got the system up and running. What do I need to do? 2. I don't have any audio. I chose this motherboard after reading the HCL and seeing that Audio is supported, but I don't know where to proceed on this one. The LAN works great out of the box and I'm really hoping to not have to reinstall again to get these things working. The system is very fast. Advokit
Hey VWBus, First thing to do is go to "http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page" this has a list of all compatible Hardware and required Kexts or Patches to get it all up and running. You need to check if your particular 8500GT is on the list, chances are you just need to install the NVinject.kext which should be listed for download on the site. As for your audio, you may well have chosen the incorrect kext when you installed, once again if you find out what chipset your audio is running you can probably just install the correct kext. Best suggestion is read up on the Forums, the search feature sucks but I found searching in Google finds most stuff. Which Kernel did you install? vwbus
Thanks for the reply. After reading through what you gave me I didn't load the proper kernal extentions when I installed. How do I go about loading these now that I have OS X installed? It appears that the two items that I am having issues with are supported, I'm just not sure where to go from here as almost everything that I read deals with the installation aspect. Advokit
There are 2 ways you can go about it, one is you can re-install and make sure you choose Sleep Kernel, Nvidia Kext and the Correct Sound. Or do a search in Google for NVInject or something along those lines, should bring up a download somewhere with some instructions for install. There is a Kext installer built into the Kalyway install I think it is called Kext Helper in the Koolsoft Directory, however again you may not have installed these when you loaded it all up. You can definately load the Kexts after install because I have changed to Nvidia since installing with Integrated graphics. I honestly could not tell you how to do it all beacuse I searched it all out on various sites and followed instructions. IMO I would probably just re-install and pick everything first time round. The only other issue you will have with Kalyway 10.5.2 is USB issues but there is a thread here if you search USB with full directions on how to fix the problem. (USB devices dont hot plug and play) Search, Search, Search my friend thats all I can tell you, all the info you need is within this site or searchable within google. A good idea is to look up your Audio chipset details mine is (ALC883) for instance and then search for that plus "OSX86 or Hackintosh). Also look for threads here with people that have the same issues, there will be plenty. Hope that helps. Andrew.
