Keeper
New to the MAC universe. I went and bought a Mac Mini and now am trying to convert an Intel to mac. Problem is the video drivers on the ATI card. I cannot find a way to install them. Can someone please direct me to a tutorial or something. TIA! rohde
Well, first step is figuring out if your graphics card is supported at all. Check the HCL in Wiki to get that info. If it is supported you might have to edit Info.plist and put in your device and vendor ID. Keeper
Well, first step is figuring out if your graphics card is supported at all. Check the HCL in Wiki to get that info. If it is supported you might have to edit Info.plist and put in your device and vendor ID. Checked and it is on the list. As fully supported. However it shows up like this: Type: VGA-Compatible Controller Bus: PCI VRAM (Total): 128 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x5b60 Revision ID: 0x0000 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Next is I was there when MSDOS first came into being. I have never used or owned a Mac untill this year. So editing the info.plist is a new term for me. So I need to know where that is located, what to use to edit it, and what should be listed there for an ATI AX300SE PCI Express card. I'm trying to come up to speed on all this. A little patience please. Thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12025-ati-ax300se/#findComment-75489 Share on other sites
rohde
Well, it seems everything is fine! According to the info you just copy and pasted both CI (Core Image) and QE (Quartz Extreme) is supported. Ergo you don't need to modify the Info.plist file! In other words, your computer being a Hackintosh your graphics card is as supported as it's gonna be at the moment. If you wan't to change resolutions you just have to modify the HD:Library:Preferences:Systemconfiguration:com.apple.Boot.plist file. If you need some help on that just let me know. Keeper
Thank you. This is a bit different than I am use to. Someone replied and did not laugh at me. I use Bryce and Daz Studio. It works on the older Macs and Windows. I was wanting to try it out on this install. According to Daz I would need to make sure the video card is well defined. So I will just have to wait untill the program is more "MacIntel" ready. Thanks anywa. O.K., well if they haven't ported it yet the program uses Rosetta to translate the PowerPC program into x86 and since the program you mention is some graphics app (if I'm not mistaken) it simply may be too slow. Have your tried running the program? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12025-ati-ax300se/#findComment-75507 Share on other sites
