18tjetta
I guess my question is, why do none of the drivers for the various radeon cards that are osx compatible not work in this application? Why can you not just install drivers for osx on the pc and have them work? Would a card like this: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_...duct_id=0220878 have any better chance of working? Jeff While that card you linked to is "both" PC & Mac compatible, all that means is the video BIOS probably contains both x86 code for Wintel machines, and PPC code for Macs with AGP slots, and it comes with software for both platforms. The problem, though, is the drivers for OS X that are included with the card here are most probably PPC-only, which means they're absolutely useless for OS X on x86 hardware. And the x86 drivers that are provided are for Windows! What you need are x86 drivers writen for OS X. The OS X installer does include Radeon drivers, but in x86 the have limited use, and you need to do some tinkering to get anything to work, and from all reports things are still not perfect, i.e. you may have some graphical glitches, you may not be able to change screen resolutions from the control panel, etc. Or it may just not work with your particular hardware setup. It'd be great if we could just go to ATI's or Nvidia's website and download the drivers from them, but they don't make them available, so until they (or Apple, or some 3rd party) does, we're kind of stuck with the situation we have now. I can't get a decent res or acceleration from my Geforce 6800GT, and Radeon users have similar problems. (BTW, I'm still waiting to hear from someone who has an AGP Radeon and a widescreen LCD who's gotten them to work at native res, 1680x1050 in my case.) Hang in there. I'm chomping at the bit waiting for this to happen, been pricing out parts for a specifically OS X86 box, but I have no spare money at the moment.
