Hi,

Im looking at buying a GA-EP45-DS4P motherboard to run vanilla osx kernel on. I'm just making sure that this board is fully compatible before i go out and but it and also want to make sure that SATA DVD works on those SATA chipsets.

There is also a GA-EP45-DS4 model which is exactly the same except for the lack of TPM. Dense a regular in the hackint0sh channel told me he had that board running fully supported, but i just need to make sure the P model would also be supported.

Has anybody has any success with these motherboards running osx86 on them?

Thanks

Toby

From my experiences from the recent weekend installing the GA-EP45-DS3P i couldn't recommend going for a P45. Go for the GA-EP35-Chipset, it seems much more supported or tested then the P45 chipset. I was only able to install iAtkos 10.5.4, everything else fails, i also got usb-sound-problems (do to the E8500 CPU which is 45nm), i also suffer from ethernet-problems on the 2 internel Ethernet-Ports (slow transfer-rates). Tried different drivers and kexts, and killed about 2 days worth with reading here on the insanely-board.

At this weekend i will try another 2 or three combinations of boot-132 installs with a few kexts and will see if i can get any further, but maybe i will just stop killing time and buy a GA-EP35-DS3P which works fine...

After all, the P45-Chipset doesn't offer much over the P35, so why bother?

Finally found the problem with my EP45: The Video-Card!

I have a ATI HD3870/512MB, which i only could make bootable with iATKOS 10.5.4, all other installs greater 10.5 resulted in kernel-panics!

Now i finally installed a XFX 8800GT with 512 MB and finally no problems with vanillia-installs!

So my remaining problems are the ethernet-ports which deliver only 20-40kb instead of 240 on my DSL2000 Connection. The only connection that works as expected is a wl138g wlan pci-card. But the internal RTL8169S/8110S as a separate installed pci-card with 8168B/8111B Realtek didn't work. If someone has a solution for this i have a complete working install!

Try the 889a kext on taruga's site. Worked for me after endless nights banging my head against my table.

Thanks Taruga. Also, it is a turtle not a frog... right?

here it is if you need it.

Once again, can't thank you enough Taruga.

I am having some trouble getting the sound to work with the Ga ep45 ds4p. The above post is the best hope I have found but I still do not have sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same motherboard and everything works great (Mic, Headphones, etc). I used the ALCinject and AppleHDA 1.2.9a4 from LS8's install pack. I posted my install notes here: GA-EP45-DS4P, boot-turbo-munkey + LS8v14, 10.5.5 retail
