guruuno1 Posted August 7, 2008 Share Posted August 7, 2008 I have just returned my Macbook Pro 17" to Apple today after having it for 2-1/2 months. Besides having a defective optical drive, the lid was warped, and 2 from stock also were warped. For $3,199 (2.6 w/6Mb l2, 2Gb 512Mb video, LED, 7200 RPM HD, etc), I personally felt that it should be perfect. In any event, I still own an 24" iMac, a MacBook, and many Dells. However, I need a laptop, and wish to purchase one. A Dell XPS? A Lenovo/ThinkPad? An Acer? Bottom lime is I'd like to run the OS X stuff on it as I did previously on my ThinkPad T41p a year or so ago, and wait until Apple improves their quality control before plucking down another $3,000. So, with all of that, a maxed out laptop, 2.6, 4Mb ram, yad, yada, yada, what to buy to do all this with the least amount of pain. I appreciate all advice and comments. Thanks. zakfontaine Posted August 8, 2008 Share Posted August 8, 2008 The Thinkpad T61 is a solid choice. Just make sure to get the one with the Thinkpad a/b/g wifi card. Only thing I don't have working on mine is sleep and the LAN. Even if they are details like sleep or energysaving features sometimes its a PITA to me.
