Yeah, this:

rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext

Should work for you. It worked for me when I couldn't figure out how to get around this problem yesterday.

Hey All,

I'm trying to test drive Leopard on my notebook and I was getting the same error. I can't, however, figure out to remove the ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext plugin directory from the ISO so I can burn a bootable DVD. I opened the Kalyway ISO with MagicISO and I am able to go in and delete/rename the offending folder, but when I burn the modified ISO to DVD it wont boot. It wont even get to the Darwin/X86 initial screen to enter boot options. Just a "press CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot" message. I also tried mounting the DVD ISO on my Ubuntu box. It mounts but I only see 2 files (?) no subdirectories or anything. When I burned a non-modified version of the Kalyway ISO (at 2X) I can boot and everything (but I get that ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin error). Is there a special way I should be mounting that ISO to see the subdirs? or something I should be doing with MagicISO? Thank you in advance.

Ben, did you ever figure out how to do this? I find myself in the exact same situation. Trying to wrap my head around what makes the one disk bootable and the other not. I assume something about the OSX file system as edited and viewed in MagicISO. You can load a boot image with the program, but I'm not sure how to get it out from another bootable disk. Thanks!
