Tu6
I'm in the process of customizing my Blueberry (aqua blue, NOT "indigo") 400MHz G3. I just purchased a 600MHz Snow iMac G3 w/ the 16MB VRAM, and I am going to replace all of the "colored" parts on the Snow one with the ones on my Blueberry (cd bezel trim, back translucent plastic, etc..). So it will have the nice "Snow" color on a blueberry G3, as well as being fairly fast. I'm going to be posting pics up when I receive the 600MHz Snow (probably on Wednesday of next week). Also, I was wondering if anyone has gotten the "550 MHz G4" processor upgrade for the iMac G3 from Daystarstore.com Would it be that much faster than the 600MHz G3? Thanks for your input. Synaesthesia
It won't be much faster than the G3, it will only be about 20% faster, so I don't know if it's worth it. However you will gain the ability to run Leopard, and some applications. Albeit slowly. Mac SK
Be careful when you remove the front bezel around the picture tube you can crack it easly. The bottom around the speakers comes off first and theres two scews that hold on the front. Then theres two little covers on top with screws that hold on the colored plastic rap cover. Clean the picture tube and inside the plastic parts before putting it all back. Can't wait to see the result. Do not touch the High Voltage lead to the picture tube after the cover is off. I put a fan in mine to help cool the power supply. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119677-imac-g3/#findComment-847900 Share on other sites
