MRT
I'm very new to Darwine. It appears to be working fine (notepad runs well, as do all of the sample apps except winecfg, that crashes if I look at the audio tab). My main reason for installing Darwine is to try to get a simple program running to use an old database on CD. However, it appears to always fall down. I couldn't get the installer work (error:"unexpected heap error" in the desktop/x11 window, no message in the wine log). So I dragged the installed program directory across the network from the Win98 box. It seems to require the old VB runtime vbrun300.dll (winelog message "Could not load 'VBRUN300.DLL' required by 'AVBTNBAR', error=2"). So then I dragged the vbrun300.dll from the same Win98 machine across to the windows/system directory under the wine installation. The same winelog message appears. It still doesn't see vbrun300.dll, although this method does work under windows. The error is exactly the same. For what it is worth, I used winecfg to set the application settings to windows version 3.1 for this program. No change. Is there a modification to the environment path that could remedy this? Can I add libraries to the DLL Overrides in winecfg ? (It seems that the list cannot be appended) Am I trying to achieve the impossible by using a program that wants old win3.x VB runtimes ? Any advice would be appreciated. (Sorry if this is a lame question) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11957-vbrun300dll/ Share on other sites
marcian
Hello, i had a similar problem with a small self-written programm of myself. Although it's a different file, i would just say: try it. Here's the hint: Copy the .dll file into the Program-Directory where your .exe-File lies. In my case i had my .exe and my .ini just lying on the desktop. I copied the msvbvm60.dll to the desktop and my program now works (well, kinda ). I hope it helps you. Sorry for my lame description. I've been talking to little english in the past few years.
