SiteRnr
Hello, I have been reading for awhile and then tried to instal 10.4.4 fresh on a clean HD. After the install I could not boot up OSX without using the install cd ect ect.. we all know where this is going... well .. after playing around with many solutions I have found one that works all the time .. perfectly.. so here goes my setup is such that OSX is installed on a different HD then my XP.. so after i installed the OSX i could tell my MB which drive to boot and it would not boot the OSX drive.. so i installed MACDRIVE so i could access the OSX hd install then i downloaded the 10.4.3 boot files.zip from Max****'s site i then copied the files from that zip to /usr/standalone/i386 the USR dir is hidden by the way.. then i installed acronis os selector on my xp drive which is drive 1 or 0 which ever way you look at it .. osx drive is the next drive.. once i rebooted and told it to load "unknown os" it booted up and works like a champ now ... acronis calls the osx os 'unknown' .. but it does not matter .. will still boot just fine ... also make sure that the partition is active ... you can do this from inside acronis ... thats how i did it anyway... i also told acronis to hide my xp drive from osx .. which may or may not be needed.. well .. thats how i did it .. it works .. i can now boot up any os i want through acronis os selector and osx boots fine .. you might need to change some of the options of the boot.plist file which can be done with ease using macdrive for windows.. hope this helps some people .. I have a question myself though .. i have a AW8-MAX Abit board with giga ethernet adapter and no networking or sound in osx.. can someone please tell me what files i need to copy from 10.4.3 and where they go ?? so i can try to fix these problems ... i know that the IONETWORKING.KEXT might help the networking .. but i have no idea where to put the file .. i have searched on here and looked on the partition but still cant figure out where to put it and where to find it on the osx 10.4.3 install dvd.... any help would be nice ... thrunner
Good useful post. /System/Library/Extensions/ Use Pacifist http://www.charlessoft.com/ with install DVD to extract. "Open Mac OS X Installation Packages" and extract the kexts you need.
