E-Chris
I can't get any firewire 800 drives to mount using a firewire PCI-Express card. I've tried several different brands of cards, and they work in Windows, but anytime I connect a drive via the 800 port in OS X it gives an error that the drive isn't initialized. I can erase the drive in Disk Utilities, but I can't mount it. When I try to mount it the log shows: disk5s1: I/O error. unable to probe /dev/disk5s1 (status code 0xFFFFFFC) The firewire 400 port works fine, but not the 800. Anybody know what might be causing this, and how I might be able to fix it. I'd really like to use the 800 port instead as I'm dealing with a lot of large files and data. Thanks in advance. E-Chris
I think it might be due to the AppleSMBIOS-27 rev6 I was using. I reinstalled 10.5.2 on a test partition and the drive mounted fine. I then installed the AppleSMBIOS-27 rev6 kext and the drive would no longer work. I'm giving netkas' version a try, maybe that will work. I really need to use one of the modified AppleSMBIOS's as I am running FCP and Adobe apps. Anybody know why this file would be causing problems with FW800? E-Chris
Update: So netkas' AppleSMBIOS works fine with FireWire 800, both on 10.5.2 & 10.5.4. Not sure why AppleSMBIOS-27 rev6 doesn't work, but at least I'm up and running again.
