jefferson987
Ok, so here is my problem. I have 2 iso dvd disks with the operating system on it. THe md5 checksums are good on all the files. One of the disks has the patch on it and the other one dosnt. I tried both disks and neither of them work because of differant problems. The dvd with the patch boots me into a kernel panic with a big power button symbol behind it which causes me to restart. The other dvd without the patch boots up without bringing me into a kernel panic but when the silver screen with the white apple pops up, it only lasts for about 5 seconds and then the system restarts. No error messages or anything. With my past Linux/unix experiance, Im thinking I might somehow have to disable ACPI ie) knoppix acpi=off That prevents linux from doing the same thing but ive tryed a whole bunch of commands in the Darwin boot and none of them work and I dont have the option to disable hyperthreading in my BIOS. Anyone think they can solve this? Its driving me insane! bofors
It might help if you post some more details. What version of OS X are you trying to install? Did you patch itself yourself? If so, what patch did you use? What is your hardware? Compaq Presario Intel Celeron D 512mb RAM 30g segate hd IDE Intel Chipset Built in ethernet and audio Hope that clears things up. I could be a little more specific normally, but I didnt build this system. d@mian
This sounds similar to what I experienced with my laptop. I had burned the DVD using Transmac and it would keep rebooting the laptop, but would boot fine to the installer on my PC. I re-burned the DVD using Nero at 8x and the laptop booted fine to the installer. Hope this helps... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop: Intel D915GM (Ethernet, Dell 1350 MiniPCI Wireless, Audio, FireWire, USBs) CPU: Pentium M 735 (1.8GHz, 2MB cache, 533 FSB), RAM: 1GB DDR2-553 (400MHz) GPU: Intel GMA900 (supporting QE/CI at 32 x 1680 x 1050 with external display dongle) HD: 1 x 80 GB, DVD-RW: NEC ND-6650A Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11948-help-im-going-crazy-it-wont-stop-reebooting/#findComment-75119 Share on other sites
