vanadium
Hello everybody, I've installed Mac OSX Leopard for a few days and could have it almost fully functional. Here is the configuration : Dell Vostro 1710 (17 inch) 3go RAM DDR2 667 Nvidia Geforce 8600M GS 256mo HDD 320Go SATA Western digital Intel 965M chipset (up to 800Mhz FSB) Intel Core2Duo T9300 (2.5Ghz, 6mo L2) Wifi Dell 1395 (54Mbps) High Definition Audio HDAudio Realtek ALC268 The installation which worked for me: 1. Install Leo4all v3. I've customized Vanilla 9.2.2 Kernel, NVInject and Nvidia drivers. 2. In order to have Wifi access, download the Dell package from here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=97966 Install Network: Dell Wireless 1395. Install also Nvidia GeForce 8600M driver and reboot. (noticed that i must install both at the same time or the Wifi won't work) 3. In order to have full screen resolution and QE/CI, download and install NVInstaller 4.1: http://scottdangel.com/blog/?page_id=20 Choose NVInjectGo.kext at install. Reboot at the end of install. (when installed correctly, it should indicate NVInject 0.2.1 for graphic ROM in system information) 4. In order to fix the boot error "HFS+ partition error" (the OS is not bootable because partition is not active) and be able to boot without the Leo4All DVD within the computer, follow these instructions: a. Start the computer with the Leo4allv3 DVD. b. At boot time, when prompted, press F8 and add -s boot parameter. It will boot in command line. c. Type: fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 (0 is for first HDD, 1 for second HDD, change the number depending on the HDD where you installed it) d. Type: flag 2 (flags the partition 2 of the disk as active, starts at 1, mine was the second partition) e. Type: update. f. Type: write. g. Type: quit. h. Type: reboot. you should be able to boot without the DVD now. 5. To have sound, download alc268 zip file here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=82025 Follow instructions given in the post. After reboot, sound should work. Other things (USB, Trackpad, Firewire..) work out of the box. Need to be fixed: - custom keyboard layout. I hope these information will help other people to make Leopard work fine on their Vostro. RDominick
Hi, This is a great post. I found this at the perfect time because I just got my Vostro and I followed this almost exactly but I was wondering if anyone has got the internal microphone to work or if I have to use a headset. If so, no matter which way I have to do it, I'd really appreciate someone telling me what to do to get audio input. Thanks in advance.
