Why So Serious?
Well I'm not sure where I messed up. Here's what I did. I got cpu z and it said in the instructions part under cpu: mmx (+), 3d now! (+), SSE, SSE2, SSE3, x86-64 I heard it needs to be sse2 or sse3 so I guess I'm good right? I think there might be two places that I went wrong. Either on burning the disc or making the partition. When I burned the file I did the whole folder instead of just the image of leopard. I also got leopard 10.5.2..Does it have to be 10.5.1? Because the only download I could find that said amd and intel was the 10.5.2 and the 10.5.1 only said intel so I don't think I could use it. (I have amd). So that could have been half of the problem. The other half would be the partition. I got Partition magic 8 or whatever it's called and I did the resize or whatever a partition. I'm pretty sure I didn't do that right though because it didn't really make any sense. So after I did the partition I did these commands that it said to do in this one tutorial then I popped the disc in and restarted. It came up with Operating System not found or something close to that. I couldn't even get on to windows because I messed it up so much. In the end I ended up just reinstalling windows xp and now I'm ready to try again. So anyways can someone tell me where I went wrong because I went to get Leopard to work. Thanks guys. BTW...I'm kind of a noob with commands and all that so just "dumb" it down a little. BTW I NEED A QUICK RESPONSE TO THIS: I'm re-downloading the 10.5.2 file. DO I NEED 10.5.2 or 10.5.1? The reason I ask is because the 10.5.2 one is the only one that says AMD. The 10.5.1 file that I found only says Intel. I don't know if it will still work though because maybe they just forgot to write AMD lol? Why So Serious?
Hmm I just saw that there's something else besides kalyway. Looks like it's more for AMD. It's like zephyroth or something? Should I be using that instead of the kalyway 10.5.2_intel_amd? Also I still need an answer. Does it need to be 10.5.1 first or can I just get 10.5.2? Also does anybody know of a good burning program because Nero is just not good for me. It takes soooo long just to install. Anybody got a better one? I think what I really did wrong was the partition. In the tutorial it said: "2. You need to create at least 6GB unallocated space on your hard disk. If you know how to do this, don't hesitate to use your preferred method. If you don't know how to do this, download Partiton Magic 8 and shrink one of the partitions on your hard drive. After you've done that, skip to step 4. >> Click on ‘Resize/Move Partition >> Move the slider to make the partition smaller and hit OK >> Click on ‘Apply’ >> Close Partition Magic" I think the problem was is that I didn't even have a partition in the first place so I ended up messing up my hard drive. So I'm guessing I should have first CREATED a partition of atleast 6gb? Do you guys think it would have worked then? Gujal
1. Get Leo4allv3 (which is 10.5.2 and supports AMD) 2. Use imgburn to burn disk images. it is free 3. 6 GB is too small. you need atleast 10GB (15GB to be comfortable). The partition has to be "Primary", not a logical drive inside your Extended partition. 4. If the install messes up, it ends up marking Apple Partition as Active. To get back to XP, all you have to do is boot using "Hiren BootCD" or "GParted Live CD" and Mark your XP partition as Active and reboot.
