E-Chris
Hi, I'm trying to get a PCI-Express Firwire 800 (1394b) card to function correctly. I've tried several brands but they all use the Texas Instruments chipset (there is another chipset by LSI, but that doesn't work either). The card seems to be recognized by OS X, shows up in the System Profiler, and when I use the 400 port the drive will mount fine. But when I use the 800 port I get an error that the disk can not be read and that it needs to be initialized, ignored, or ejected. (The 800 ports work fine when running windows) I thought the firewire card should "just work" out of the box, and since I've tried several brands without success I have to think it is my system. Anybody have this experience, or any thoughts on how I might go about getting my 800 ports to work? volte
I have the exact same issue. Using an SYBA PCI card. Pretty standard stuff; IEEE 1394B, supports 1394a-2000 bla bla bla. What's the deal with this being unable to recognize disks? Anyone got tips, solutions or ideas?
