Okay, yes, I already have a Mac, and it's AWESOME, I never want to go back to Windows... Which is why I want to install OS X on my PC. I have three possible computers I can install it on, and all three I've already tried the Kalyway, Jas, and some other x86 version of Leopard.

The one that is actually mine (well, it is now, since it was the odd machine out once I got this Mac, and it's being used as a server), is a Dell Dimension 2400. It has a Intel Pentium 4 2.4Ghz (SSE2 and SSE3), an Intel ___ graphics processor, ethernet and IDE. I really want to get OS X on this machine because it is meant to be our file server, and I want to be able to use XGrid with it (I am a lone Mac in my house, but everyone else in my house wants a Mac now that they've seen mine (= ). The problem is, with all three DVD's, it would start loading files, and then suddenly it would flash a message and reboot. I couldn't see what it said, but I saw the word EFI on one line, and ACPI on another.

The second candidate is a Compaq. It's got a Celeron D (also SSE2 and SSE3), and an ATI Radeon 200XPress Chipset. Problem with this one is it's not mine, and it's only got 512 MB of RAM in it, and 64 MB of that is shared with video. It has two IDE ports and two SATA ports, with one IDE DVD drive and one SATA HDD. The installation problem with this one is they all say "Still waiting for root device", and I've tried to install OS X on this one before, it always does that.

The last candidate is a small form factore ShuttleX, and I don't remember what processor brand it has, but I know it's Intel and it has SSE2 and SSE3. It has only IDE ports inside of it, and it has an ATI Radeon 9200 or something for graphics (AGP).

This time, on all three DVD's, it loaded for a really long time, and then just suddenly rebooted.

So again, I have a Mac, if I need to do anything on an actual Mac I can do that, and I'm not looking for any sort of dual booting scheme, since this would be a dedicated server that we would never touch, just put files on (and I would occasionally VNC into it).

I don't have that much programming knowledge, so I can't exactly create my own patches, and I'm just completely lost, I've been going at this for about three days now.

1) Yes, it was on the dell dimension, here is the link for the Tiger image, it's a torrent: http://www.digitmemo.com/files/x-Demonoid....5BEN%5D.torrent I didn't have to do anything to get it to boot, it did it by itself.

2) The buffer is already set to 8MB, and the AGP is set it 128 MB. That's not the problem.

*update* I found out what the graphics card is called, it says "Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics"
