mark10197
Hi, I have 4 macs and a pc and I decided I was ready to to give OSx86 a try. So I downloaded the kalyway 10.5.1 (took about 10 hrs) and burnt it to a dvd at a slow 2x speed to eliminate errors and then I verified the disc to make sure it was all good. So then I put a blank 80gb IDE hd in the pc (formatted into Mac os extended journal) inserted the dvd turned on the system held the F12 key to select a disc to boot off of, Chose the dvd, it loaded and said press any key to boot from cd or press F8 for more options. well I just pushed any key and it started to load.(gave the standard "loading darwinx86" sign) so It seemed like every thing was going well for about two minutes, and then a couple of lines appear on the screen for about a half of a second and then the computer restarts. DAMN. I have burnt two dvd's and same issue. I am a newb and this is my first time doing this and it seemed everybody was really cool and willing to help so I thuaght id ask the professionals here. Any help is greatly appreciated! oh yeah my system specs are Dell dimension 2400 2.8ghz P4 (northwood) intel 845g chipset 1.5 gb am 80gb hd thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118646-kalyway-installer-wont-load/ Share on other sites
zurie
when F8 screen comes up type press F8 and then type: -v this lets you boot in verbose mode so you can tell us what error occurs before it crashes. it may also just endlessly reloop certain text, etc and eventually reboot. you also should sincerely try downloading kalyway 10.5.2 - as that fixes some known issues with 10.5.1 as well as download iAtkos v4 which has some different drivers and etc in it. those CD's along with the error message you are going to tell us will help out alot! mark10197
Allright, ill give it a try. I did download 10.5.2 but I think I had a bad torrent. (the dvd didnt even boot) Ill have to find another that has lots of seeders. Ok I did the -v at F8 It went really fast! the last thing I could sorta make out before it crashed was "Using ACPI for setup ......." I think. It went super fast. But I think I am going to download a new torrent for 10.5.2. can some one email me the torrent to mark10197@yahoo.com? it would be very helpfull.
