Hello, sorry if this is a repeat post but I have been searching and have found nothing as of yet!

I finally managed to get a working build of OSX86 to install onto my computer (Intel P4 Prescott, 3.2Ghz, Abit Motherboard, 3 partitions on the hard drive, NO DUAL BOOTING)

After a few different customizations and reinstalls I managed to get it to load up the Darwin Bootloader, and I have my options to pick the startup volume - the Mac partition is the default volume.

Every time I select it, boom, the computer reboots. If I don't go into any advanced booting options, hello reboot loop trap :D

If I boot with -v I get a black screen with a small about of text, the latter lines being:

"Mac OS version:

Not yet set

Kernel version

Darwin Kernel Version 9.4.0: Mon Jun 9 19;30:53 PDT 2008; root:xnu-1228.5.20-1/RELEASE_I386"

Then it sits there! Any advice?

Many thanks!

Booting in safe mode does not help, restarts again.

As for which kernel I selected, I did not choose a kernel when I booted iATKOS - however once I was in the Mac OS Installer I clicked the following customization options:

iATKOS v4i Main System

Darwin Bootloader

Kernel 9.4.0

Darwin X86 for MBR (non-EFI)

AppleSMBIOS netkas

SATA

NVinject 128mb

Intel Pro/100ve

edit: you need to install the other kernels, you can also install ALL the kernels and then manually select which one to boot from at startup if you are not sure and want to test them all.

rule of thumb. vanilla kernel only works with intel CPU, intel northbridge, intel southbridge.

anything else (nvida, via, amd, etc) you need a different kernel.

Ok, a reinstall using the ToH kernel has gotten me one step closer!

I now get to the apple screen, then after about a minute the spinning animation freezes.

Booted in safe mode, no change.

Booted in verbose, freezes on:

"Ethernet Address: etc."

Ok, several months later, and you're probably not even around anymore...:)

I know it's been said before, but have you tried the -x , -f , or -legacy modifiers? -x=safe mode (won't enable anything except bare essentials), -f=ignores startup file (?), -legacy=forces 32-bit

I have a kernel panic I'm trying to figure out right now. I can't seem to isolate it... *sigh*
