Lintendo
I don't know what this will be for but here it is make = Gigabyte model = GA-P35-DS3 btw your instructions are a bit confusing, especially this In terminal execute the following:(cd /usr/bin/ && sudo tar xzf /util.tar.gz) your attached file is utils.tar not util.tar.gz and could not be extracted with that command because it's not gzip format... gap35ds3.tar.gz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118415-info-needed-immediately-for-desktop-computers/ Share on other sites
Guest BuildSmart
I need 2 minutes of your time, since I don't own one of every motherboard out there I must rely upon you for assistance, please download the attached archive and place it at the root of your drive. In terminal execute the following: (cd /usr/bin/ && sudo tar xzf /utils.tar.gz) The reason is simple, I need information to support your motherboard (when naming your dir, do it without spaces or hyphens, lower case only an no more than 10 characters), in this example I'll use d975xbx2kr, "ASUS P5W DH Deluxe" is invalid, so is "ga-p35". Execute the following commands:(SEE NOTES) mkdir d975xbx2kr cd d975xbx2kr dsdtmaker gfxutil -f ethernet >ethernet.txt cd .. tar -czf d975xbx2kr.tar.gz d975xbx2kr Do not browse this directory until you have completed the command. Any archive that contains a ".DS_Store" file will be precluded from being a supported motherboard. In a reply to this message include the make, model of your motherboard and attach the archive. NOTES: If you have to edit any Info.plists to get your onboard ethernet supported please copy the info.plist file to the directory before archiving it and list the path of the kext it belongs too in your reply. If you bios has an option to enable HPET, please make sure it is enabled before executing the dsdtmaker application. If your onboard ethernet is not support please do not include the ethernet.txt file or your info.plist file. If your motherboard does not support at least a core 2 duo or Xeon CPU please do not reply. BOARDS NOT REQUIRING INFORMATION: D975XBXKR D975XBX2KR A model already submitted by another party. Laptops EXAMPLE REPLY:(just an example - probably invalid) make = ASUS model = P5W DH Deluxe Info.plist = /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleYukon2.kext attachment: p5wdhdelux.tar.gz Replies must be received no later than Friday midnight EST August 1st, 2008. If your browser does any post-processing then the archive name will change from utils.tar.gz to utils.tar so the adjusted command would be: (cd /usr/bin/ && sudo tar xf /utils.tar) . The following Monday I will post the product of this project and the scripts required to expand it's functionality. If Chameleon has been fixed to work on the badaxe2 (I believe it has but is unconfirmed by me at this time) it will be included in the post-installation options as a "Make HD Bootable" solution otherwise an alternate solution will be included. Thank you for your assistance. -- BuildSmart utils.tar.gz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118415-info-needed-immediately-for-desktop-computers/#findComment-838773 Share on other sites

Thank you corrected typo, the file is called utils.tar.gz however if your browser does any post-processing then it will change from utils.tar.gz to utils.tar and the post has been updated. Guest BuildSmart
Amazing, I only received one reply and it was from a motherboard that doesn't allow the DSDT to be corrected. I have been working on a graphic boot menu for the Boot / Swap DVD that did two things, first it was to provide a selectable list of supported motherboards and an option for a generic motherboard if your board was not listed and then the second graphic menu allowed you to select your boot device, currently it supports the Asus P5W DH Deluxe, the D975XBXKR (BadAxe) and the D975XBX2KR (BadAxe2). Seems no one was interested in obtaining support for their motherboard except for one person and unfortunately there is no simple fix for correcting the DSDT on their motherboard. Currently the 3 supported boards will boot up from the CD with everything working including sound and the entire size of the Magic Boot CD/ISO was 4.4mb and it contained an option for post-installation so your freshly installed HD can boot without the use of the CD. The project is now closed and since no hardware other than what I have is supported it makes no sense to make the ISO publicly available when no option exists for you to modify the GUI or Post-Installer to support your hardware. sWORDs
Maybe you should give projects like this more time and explain what you are doing before. I've got a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 and a Asus P5K so pm me if you need something. I've got a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 and a Asus P5K so pm me if you need something.I was on a programming roll, waiting for more than a week while doing nothing doesn't appeal to me and since I got only 1 response I dropped the project and did a solution that applies only to the hardware I have and for personal use which is nothing I'm going to be distributing. I asked for the information, many people read the post but only one person responded and I feel bad I can't do a DSDT fix for his motherboard because the DSDT contains no code for HPET but because he did respond I'm still looking into a solution to fix his DSDT so at least he can use the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and HPET and not have to worry about HPET errors or have software update panic the system when it does an OS update. Guest BuildSmart
@BuildSmart Are you still looking for info I have a Intel DG31PR that I can run this util on. If you want. No, I've moved on to other things, the currently available solution of the swap CD software is pretty much what everyone can use, the use of an intelligent motherboard detecting graphic menu solution is just bells and whistles that no one really needs, they can figure out their own post-installation solution for getting the required drivers installed and making the drive bootable. Carlos Pombo
@BuildSmart Unfortunately have seen your post only a few minutes ago. wish i had it before and i could submit Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R wish meets your criteria. Too late I have a reliable and nice XBX2 you have no need for info and already a boot CD working. May i ask for a copy of CD boot? I'd like to test with my booting Hard RAID Yes, I'm booting straight from hardware RAID with Chameleon 11 install pkg, Extra folder with 2 kext only (decrypt and powermanag disabler) RocketRaid 2320 official kext drive installed into extensions as it must bee as per HighPoint Manufactory System is 100% stable. Booting takes long as HardRaid firmware always check HDs when starting Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118415-info-needed-immediately-for-desktop-computers/#findComment-951003 Share on other sites
