Try to enable the wide screen in the BIOS when you boot up your system.

I helped a friend of mine have Leopard installed on his SONY TZ laptop and before was only 80% of the screen can be used and for the rest 20% are all black. You definitely want to check out the BIOS.

 

I don't understand why Sony wants to have such a setting.
