MacAllah
Hello! I just built a new computer and I'm trying to install iAtkos v4.0i. I put the disc in the drive and start up. It shows the grey Apple on the grey background for a bit, then a "no smoking" sign (minus cigarette) shows up and nothing happens. What's the deal? Locke Watts
try booting in verbose mode, it'll give you more info. When Darwin loads, use the "-v" bootflag. Halcy0n
Well i get something simlar whenever i try using my Mac OS X DVD (iATKOS v1 or v2) after having installed Mac OS X, and i messed up the kernels some how. However, i do get it to work over VMWare, you might wanna try using VMWare to install Mac OS X. ANd, than boot into it later, its been done before... Sorry, dont really know what else to tell you Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118209-iatkos-v40i-install-problem-no-smoking-sign/#findComment-837852 Share on other sites

Was following this installation guide : http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Vmware_how_to upto Step 7. Now stuck in the OS launch-fail. It says: Localhost Directoryservice[51]: Launched Version 5.0 (v514). Need expert suggestion for the next step to fix this problem. Please help. Thanks. scottishduck
The team kinda screwed up with some packages so a lot of hardware doesn't work. Wait for the r2 patch. MacAllah
Would Kalyway work if iAtkos is currently beefed? SIDENOTE: I was able to boot/install Vista 64-bit just fine, but the Ubuntu installer is crashing on start-up same as iAtkos. Weird, right? xcomme
In step 4: select Custom instead so that you can set your disk drive to IDE instead of SCSI. I forgot to do that. After correct this, installation has passed the last hang point. But now it has reached blue water drop screen background with a color ball spinning. Feel like it is doing installation, but is taking forever (over an hour). Should I still keep waiting? xcomme
With iATKOS v2.0i, it ends up in the same screen - color ball spinning in blue water-drop background as above. Is there any expert around to help? You can help lots of people in the forum. We all got stuck in the same spot. Non Smoking Sign .. haha .~_~ Well, maybe you want to try to patch with the Chameleon EFI boot loader I will suspect that becasue your DVD ROM Drive or IDE is not been supported by IATKOS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118209-iatkos-v40i-install-problem-no-smoking-sign/#findComment-857071 Share on other sites

Do you realise you are using a guide written for installing Tiger. There is no way yet to install any Leopard Distro (Kalyway, iAtkos, Zephyroth, etc, etc) in VMWare. The only way it has been achieved is by using a flat image (which is essentially a backup of a Lepoard installed machine).
