What distro and version of OS X did you get working?........if 10.5.2 then my latest blog entry (which can be applied to internal and external HDD installs.....at least by me.... :D ) and the iATKOS v2.0i install guide both explain clearly what to do for networking and audio and video...... :)

allright i used leo4all v3 which is os x 10.5.2 ... i finally could install it and i also found a nvidia driver for my graphiccard. but i guess when i start an application that uses a little more power from the cpu osx suddenly freezes and i have to reset my pc. whenever i started tuneup to listen to mp3's or when i watched some pictures or even browse through the system configuration osx freezes after about 2min of usage. i also tried iatkos 2.0i today but as in kalyway and iatkos 4.0i i get "Still waiting for root device"

What DVD install selections are you making?

I ask because of the following posts here by sQuadron, which show that iATKOS v2.0i was successfully installed using my blog guide and is running on a ASUS striker exteme mother board nFORCE 680i.....whereas he had problems with leo4all v3......

well i installed leo4all with "cpus=1 maxmem=2048 -v" at the bootprompt. and i can install it without any problems even when i dont move the mouse... but when i'm finally at os x and launch an application that needs some ressources osx freezes... like i said.

i also get iatkos 2.0i and followed your guide at your blog (booting with "nforce_core -v") but when osx should boot up for installation. i always (not only in iatkos) get "Still waiting for root device" followed by "IOATAController blocking bus." like i said i get this error messages at kalyway 10.5.2, iatkos 2.0i and iatkos 4.0i and only on leo4all v3 the osx installation boots up and starts installing.

This I think explains the problem with iATKOS......booting with "nforce_core -v" causes problems because of some incompatibility between the SATA DVDRW and the nForce kernel you are loading at the DVD boot, so for iATKOSv2.0i try booting the DVD with "cpus=1 maxmem=2048 –v".....

What did you boot the iATKOS v4.0i DVD and Leo4Allv3 DVD with....."cpus=1 maxmem=2048 –v" or something else?

For Kalyway booting the DVD with "cpus=1 maxmem=2048 –v" should normally cause no problems BUT I still think the SATA DVD may be the root of the problem.....

i tried every distro with "cpus=1 maxmem=2048 -v" but whats the deal with cpus=1? that it uses only one core? i mean i got 4 of em and maybe thats why leo4all freezes? can i enable them all in os x?

Often installing with all 4 cores running causes the system to freeze.....until the correct kernel is installed from the DVD that properly handles all 4 cores....... if you want to try installing with all 4 cores enabled then just use "-v".....as you only have 2GB RAM you don't strictly need to use maxmem=2048...... :)

Assuming that your BIOS settings are correct:

Configure SATA as "AHCI" or Serial-ATA Configuration [Enabled]

JMicron SATA / PATA Controller [Disabled].....if JMicron present.....unless it works for you [Enabled].....but JMicron is known to cause problems for some....but JMicron patches for OS X Install DVDs are now appearing......

JMicron Controller Mode [AHCI]....if present.....

Execute Disable Bit [Enabled]

ACPI APIC Support [Enabled]

ACPI Suspend Mode [s3] or [s1] or [s1 and S3]

Other than suggesting that you borrow or get a PATA DVDRW to install from, it is difficult to suggest or think of what other things you could try.....as you have tried 4 different distros.....ranging from not installing to installing but crashing later......sorry..... :)

so i maybe should try a regular ide drive for installation? ... well i could try that. but i only need it for the installation right?

Well....if you borrow and try a PATA DVDRW just for the install and intitial running and all of the distributions work without a problem......perhaps this will then be the case when the SATA DVDRW is reinstalled.....but if the problems return when the SATA DVDRW is reinstalled, then you know that the SATA DVDRW is and was the problem.......so if you want to continue using OS X then going to buy a PATA DVDRW is justified..... :)

But if trying a PATA DVDRW makes no difference, then your problem lies somewhere else with your setup...... :)

Hi guys!

My config:

iDeneb 10.5.5 v.1.3 running on the following hardware

MB: Asus P5N32-E-SLI Plus (nForce 680i chipset)

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2,4 GHz

RAM: Kingston 4GB DDR2-667

HDD: Samsung SATA (500GB)

DVD Burner: 2 TSST Corp SATA

Video: GeForce 8600 GT (512MB)

What I've selected

- Languages : Italiano, English

- Audio : ADI1988

- Chipset : Apple NForce ATA test (medevil) e JMicron ATA

- Kernel : 9.4.0 Stage XNU

- Network : ForceDeth (although it works partially...better replace it with NForceLan.Kext linked below)

- Other Patches: Apple SMBIOS MacPro

- Video : NVKush

Everything working great but the lan.

An experimental driver can be found here:

With the new Macbook issued this week...the driver linked above will be finally fixed!

hi, I tried every thing too nad the only one that worked is iPC OSx86 Universal 10.5.6 with few bugs at the end but we can find solutions if we look in the web, any way, insert disc and boot from it, the settings I did was

iPC Base system

Kernels - 0.4.0 stage XNU

Drivers - intel

Chipset - AppleNForce ATA nForce Driver

Audio - ADxxxx

Ethernet - orcedeth V variation

AppleSMBIOS.Patch - AppleSMBIOS AnV MacPro

then press cpus=1, -v or just enter, write only one if it fails try thr other but surely will work as i said not perfect but it will boot from HD, at the moment I got that, good luck

hi osx'ies :P

i'm trying to install osx on my pc now for about 3 weeks and i didnt managed to run it til now so the last thing i wanted to try is that i'll ask some experts here at IM.

i tried leo4all v3, kalyway, iatkos v4.0i and the boot-132 method with the leopard retail version but nothing worked so far. on kalyway and iatkos i get the same error of "Still waiting for root device" followed by "IOATAController blocking bus."

so i tried leo4all which seems pretty good so far. i get into that os x installer and i could run the disk utility and all that but after some time the installation freezes. i could move the mouse but nothing more would happen.

last but not least i tried the boot-132 method using the leopard retail version. in that case when i am at that "boot: _" prompt i hit enter and it gets me to the screen where i have to enter the two hex digits but nothing happenes except i use 9f (which is the CD/DVD drive - i read this before ...) after i hit enter again and use -v -f and -x at the boot: prompt i end up with that screen:

(this is the screen about the two hex digits)

and this is where i end up after i hit enter at that screen:

and my pc reboots after that screen...

i hope you guys have an idea :P

here is my sys:
