Komano
Hello.. I decided to make a Common topic for problems as someone has been complaining that the InsanelyMac needs an update FAQ. All the Questions and Solutions are NOT submitted by me but out fellow forum members. They will be the ones giving you the answers, so i am not 100% certain it will work. Although i make a topic like this. I myself am new to OSx86 so if you ask me a question i jolly well might not be able to answer it. But this is really not my effort, its just a Compilation of Errors or Problems you might face during install. And please. dont flame me for {censored}. PS: This is a template of my previous forum thread in somewhere for overall known issues. There might be dumb questions but i seriously dont care. *NOTE! I will try to update more. *Change Log Created on 27 July 2008 at 6:34+8GMT Last updated 27 July 2008 at 8:42+8GMT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Topics That May Be Important ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- List Of Questions 1)Whats a Trumpet Button? 2)I keep getting the same problem with any of the 10.5.3 update methods. A: Q:I keep getting the same problem with any of the 10.5.3 update methods. Very slow boot-up and then a hang at "AHCISmartUserClient: IOUserClient inputcount count mismatch" A:It must be something to do with some extra driver stuff you installed or your bios has problem with ahci (either bios itself has bugs, or you didnt enable ahci mode?) the only way to make sure it will work is through clean install. Answer Provided by:Mysticus C* or rather a More Accurate answer. What happened is I do my updates on my secondary backup drive so I can test them. Normally, I just boot into that drive with the rd=diskXsY augment from the bootloader on the main drive. This works fine if the secondary drive is just a clone of the main drive. If the seconday drive has been updated with a new OS version that doesn't closely match the main drive the bootloader gets confused. I don't understand the exact mechanics behind this, but it just won't work like that (if somebody can explain this too me I'd appreciate it). What made me notice the problem is no matter what kernel version I had installed on OSX on secondary drive, it was loading the kernel from the main. I simply booted direcly to the secondary drive with the bios boot selector and everything was fine. Answer Provided by:vaporATX Q:Restart/Shutdown not working on my Laptop. What I can do? A:restart may be problem due to speedstep kernel or other fixes like keyboard, acpi etc. related to laptop stuffs (there are couple of fixes for laptops for speedstep, internal keyboard, etc... i just dont remember/know what exactly they are) Answer Provided by:Mysticus C* Q:My Generic PS/2 Keyboard is not Working in my newly installed OSx86 A:There is a PS/2 Fix for this, (Somewhere in the forum) Once i find it i'll post back. Q:Why is my Mac OSx86 so slow? It sucks i want windows back!. A:w/o QE/CI it will be slow Answer Provided by:Mysticus C* Q:I have a problem... I updated to 10.5.3 but my network is gone, before the update was working perfectly. I replaced IONetworking kext with the last working one but nothing happen. My network card detected as Yukon2. Please help A:Have anyone of you tried installing the Lan Package in the drivers/network/lan/lan package? please do so! It contains most common NICs... Answer Provided by:Mysticus C* Q:My Computer just reboots after i press F8 and type -v A:Try Resetting your bios settings and unplugging hardware that you do not need for install, or you can try the command tohkernel and see if it works. Q:"Problem Reading Disc" error right before the installation part. A:Possible Fix* Burn the disc at 4x Q:Solution for DQ35JO and DQ965GF A:I have been using internal video and it apparently causes those errors and a kernel panic. I overcame this by installing an old BFG Nvidia 6600 GT I had laying around and guess what? It passed those flawless into the GUI!!!!!! Answer Provided by:LVNeptune Q:I cant format my Harddisk into a HFS+ Partition. When i use Disk Utility, the disk just becomes Unmounted and is still a Fat-32 Format. A:Get a Windows xp Cd, Boot it up. Use the Windows Xp Cd to reformat that partition to a FAT-32 Drive then try using Disk Utility again to format it to a HFS+ Partition, it should work. Q:I am running 10.5.4 with the 9.4 modbin kernel and cannot get s3 sleep to work. The computer sleeps fine but when i try to wake it up the display never comes back and i have to hold the power button to turn it off and reboot. Does anyone know how to get s3 sleep to work or am i stuck with s1 A: Use the sleep kernel. Answer Provided by:Panarchy Q:What? No Hard Disk Found? A:Pending Q:Getting stuck at the line "using 10485 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers" while trying to boot an osx86 installation or an osx86 disk A:http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=78235 Answer Provided by:The0 Q:"EBIOS read error : media error Block 3878608 sectors 64" A:format the disk and make the partition for leopard just use master boot record and it shouldn't give you this problem anymore.
