I'm confused about the different versions of OSX86.

I have installed the patched 10.4.5 but I have been wondering if my install is equivalent to a "real" Intel-Mac running 10.4.5. The different patched versions are they beta versions or are they "real" versions just patched to be installable on non-apple machines? I guess I want to know how much is missing/added in these underground versions compared to an Intel-Mac running a non-modified OSX.

The reason I'm asking is because of the hardware-compatibility problems especially with networking cards.

Any reply to make me less confused is appreciated.

All versions before 10.4.4 is developer versions only meant to be running on the developer machines. Version 10.4.4 is the "real" version shipped with the first MacIntels. They 10.4.5 version you have installed is exactly the same as the one on the newer official MacIntels with the exceptions of various patches needed for it to be able to run on non-supported hardware.

Really? I thought also the 10.4.3 is a not-developer-release and only the 10.4.1 is the developer version

wow, thanks for the education :D

One question: You said, the 10.4.4 is a developer version, and what is when I'll patch the 10.4.4 to 10.4.5, is it than the 10.4.5 developerversion or the macintel 10.4.5? And can I load a (patched?) 10.4.5 out of the internet as a torrent or doesn't no one exist?

Sry for my bad English..

..I hope you can understand me :)

hmmmm...

My 17" Intel Duo Core 1.83mhz iMac came with 10.4.4

As these were the first Intel machines shipped, I would assume that 10.4.4 was the first version for production machines.

Yes of course. My bad, I meant 10.4.4.

I will correct my post.
