Hi all. I purchased a DLink DWA-556 PCI-X 802.11n card a couple of months ago. It was recognised right away (out of the box) as AirPort and I can connect to my N AirPort Extreme base station and surf the net/transfer just fine. I've been periodically checking network monitor and noticed I get alot of transfer errors. I have tried changing wireless channels and switching Interference Robustness on and off but no luck.

Is it possible I have a faulty card? The link speed is only at 130 too, shouldn't it be up at 300Mbps? I've had it going in Vista too and still only get 130Mbps link speed.

I've got the AE in N mode with B/G compatibility and it's also in WDS mode with an AirTunes unit.

Help please!

I'm not too worried about the link speed, more worried about the errors.

This is the results of a typical days use.

If you devide the number of errors by the number of packets you will see you are at 0.000529%, does this sound high to you now???

This card will only connect at 130mbps in Mac OS X, in XP I was able to obtain 270mbps connections to the AEBS but the error rate is unacceptable.

I was able to get less errors connecting to a NetGear WNR854T which also yielded 270mbps (the occassional 300mbps).

The apple driver is designed to work with apple hardware using a specific chipset which the DWA556 does not contain and with the lack of 802.11a support in the card the driver wont make a connection greater than 130mbps.

My card and an AEBS:
