mricchio
Hi ALL Im a noobie to this kind of stuff. bare with me please I have installed kalyway 10.5.2 iso and is finishs it goes through to Welcome video in different languages, then goes to Do you Already own a MAC question, asking for country, keyboard and wether u want to transfer data from an old MAC. Obviously I select not to transfer data etc, hoping it would finalise and boot into Leopard, hangs for about 1 minute and goes back to the Welcome Video and starts the country, keyboard, Do u already own a MAC etc. This just continues no matter wot u select. Is there anyway around this? Anyone else had this problem and how did u get past it? IM almost there to enjoying my new MAC Thanks in advanced... Sed8ed
The method I used was this: When booting press f8 -s at prompt...wait a few seconds and youll be presented with a command prompt type (exactly).... /sbin/fsck -fy (enter) /sbin/mount -uw / (note the spacing...very important) touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone (note the fullstop before AppleSetupDone) passwd root (type the new password...it wont show but it's definitely typing in a password as the cursor doesnt move, need to repeat the password for verification, make it simple) reboot (type reboot in and press return) it should now boot to a log in..... It should log you as root (administrator).....log in and then log out again and select the guest account......go to system preferences and click on accounts. de-activate the administrator account and add your own account.....(you'll see + - in the list of accounts, pressing the + is adding a user) Now if that doesnt work and you get stuck in the loop again after a reboot....try the same again (same steps all over again) but upon reboot press f8 instead of booting normally and type this at the prompt (exactly as you see it)... "Graphics Mode"="640x480x32" and press return This will get you pass the welcome screen and you should be prompted with a login and password screen. Username is : root and the password is whatever you made it when you were setting up a password in the first part of this post.... Other than that you have a hardware issue that cant be overcome. The most problems I had related to welcome loop were due to no ethernet devices present for a connection at setup.....some USB Wifi sticks will help you get through as they are seen during the boot and despite not getting a connection they will still help you bypass the welcome/migration screen...... Hope it helps!!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/117365-cant-get-past-welcome-video/#findComment-831417 Share on other sites
