Any news? Anyone with a Thinkpad T40p?

No, your card ist not supported (same ID as the one in my Acer TM 800, though its no FireGL just a "normal" M9).

The rule for supported cards is rather simple (based on the knowledge I gathered from this forum):

- must be ATI 9600 (or greater) or Intel Integrated 900+

Elf, I have the same card as you. I still hope that we will have more luck about the QE and CI support with a new ATI driver that seems to be in work by some really smart people here in the forum. Hopefully ours is in that driver.

But maxx2097 might be right, too.

I also have a hope for at least Video acceleration (you can already get this with 10.4.1 drivers, as I read. But this limits resolution to 1280x1024, what is not the native resolution of my display).

QE should be theoretically possible. CI is out of sight, since this card doesnt offer the hardware capabilities for CI.

CI needs hardware shaders that are not available on ATI < 9600 (well... 9550 has it). Until now, there is no solution to get QE running on ATI cards below 9600. But theoretically this should be possible (it is enabled on PPC Macs equipped with these cards).

For Keynote to run, you could try to enable (hardware) OpenGL following the instructions in this thread:

For an ATI 9000 you should use/modify the ATIRadeon8500.kext instead of the ATIRadeon.kext, but I dont know if this will work... just try it

The reason, why I didnt try this for now was that Im limited to 1280x1024 (using boot.plist or kernel option) when I activate the kext for my card and I cannot work with the native resolution of my display.

Hello, I don't know the specification of this fire Gl but I have an ati Fire gl Z1 in my desktop.

And after adding the devide number and the other (scuse me I don't remember exactly the name, ...) in the atiradeon9700.kext she's running perfectly apart the change of resolution and refresh rate.

I don't know on wich ATI radeon number chipset is based, but you can allways try.
