I've tried to install leopard with leo4all, kalyway and iatkos 1.0iR2 and 2.0i and none of them even start the installation.

What I've tried so far:

- Used SATA DVD and SATA HDD (Not Working)

- Used PATA DVD and SATA HDD (Not Working)

- Used PATA DVD and PATA HDD (Not Working)

I've also tried those configs with pretty much all the boot up flags (nforcekernel, kabylkernel, (all the possible kernels..)(in kaly), -x -v -s -f platform=acpi|x86pc) but they don't help at all.

I've tried burning all the distros in 4x and also full speed and that hasn't changed anything either. I've got no extra PCI cards other than a linksys WMP54G(W-Lan)

This is the error I'm getting right after I try to start the installation DVD. After this it restarts, so it was quite hard to get an image of it(had to videotape it >_>..) My rig is in my forum sig.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I've played with many settings...

Turned HPET On/Off

Disabled/enabled sata

Disabled/Enabled IDE controller

with No Execute ON/OFF

Hyper Threading On/Off

EIST On/Off

IOAPIC Table 1.1 and 1.4 and also ioapic off

tried underclocking the fsb to 700mhz and also overclocking to 810mhz

changed date forward one hour, then one day, then one week

Disabled USB/Enabled USB

Disabled USB Legacy/Enabled

I also tried disabling the "ACPI function" in bios but when I do that it starts rebooting right after POST so that didnt work either.

None of this worked tho...

Yeah, that too.(forgot to put it on the first post, so many stuff...)

After puting -x it loads many kexts and then dies(restarts), but it does not show the last two lines. (It dies at the "Using ACPI RSDP Revision 0" line.). It goes too fast for me to see, but I taped it :censored2:

Unfortunatly I was conned into buying this board too. It's workable, but a pain the ass. I saw your post on it and thought for sure it was a no go, but indeed, it does work.

please don't take the tone of this post as being condescending.

Im not sure how much you know about what and also for anybody else stuck with this board, I just want to be as clear as possible

Ready?

Ok, so lets start in the Bios

Load optimized defaults and then

Arrow over to integrated peripherals

and then select On-Chip ATA Devices

change the Raid mode from IDE to AHCI

Hold down F11 on Reboot to go do disk selection

Select your DVD drive and press enter.

that should get you booted up and installing. you can add the -v boot flag but it'll load fine w/o it.

for install i used Kalyway 10.5.2. and haven't updated, i don't trust it enough yet.

Now after about 3 or 4 minutes it should load up to the installer screen

Go to utilities, select disk utility

Partition as MBR (GUID Does not work)Format your Mac disk to mac os extended journaled

continue

continue

agree

blah blah blah

Select the disk you're installing on

next

CUSTOMIZE

I selected the the following in each category

additional fonts: not selected

language translations:none

kernels: Kernel_92_nforce

graphics: im running a Radeon 2600XT 256 So I selected the appropriate Natit for that. I haven't tried the onboard video

Mobo Chipsets: SELECT ALL

Thirds applications: Select em all, cuz why not? they're all super useful

Patches: Hardcoded_SMBIOS:Lastnetkassmbios

Boot with cpus=1 flag (im runing a 1.8 celeron d 430 core solo so that doesn't really matter.)

PCGenUSB_Fix (doesn't allow hotplugging of Ipod so i don't know what good it really does)

francais_pc_keyboard_layout (not sure if this is what allows you to use "alt" button on pc keyboard as the "command" key in mac)

and that's it. you may want to try other combinations depending on your other hardware.

I haven't been able to get the network workin on it

or the sound. I've tried editing every ALC888 audio kext I could find to no avail.

Booting up

If you're planning on dual booting I suggest you save yourself the trouble of installing on the same HD and use two separate SATA drives. With your windows disk on SATA 1 and your Mac disk on SATA 2

If you want to use your windows HD you'll have to go back into BIOS and change the SATA back from AHCI to IDE.

If you're still in AHCI mode, hold down F11 on startup until you hear it tick a bunch of times. That allows you to go to a Harddrive selection menu again. Select your MAC disk and it should start loading. It'll probably get stuck at "getting uuid" or something to that effect but ignore it, you'll only notice if you boot with the -v flag.

It might take up to 10 minutes to load. Mine does and im not sure if that's just cuz of my slow single core processor or what

Just be patient. The blue screen will come on and it'll hang for a bit and just before you're about ready to hit the power button and storm off cursing...it'll load.

and there you have it. hope it helps let me know how it works for you.

Can anybody figure out this problem ...

It does that over and over and over after the OSx86 10.4.6 installation on Dell Dimensioin 1100. There is only 1 20GB Partation FAT32 Logical and it is active. I don't know what the problem is I have tried everything ...

This is what happened during installation ...

The screen was all black and white and the text and graphics were hardly viewable. Let me know if it is the problem with my graphics card.

I will be very thankful if anybody can help me ...

Maybe try "Fail Safe" Defualts on your bios, and then change the Sata to AHCI. Don't confuse AHCI with ACPI. I was able to install just fine on to my Sata Drives using the above mentioned method. I have an IDE DVD Drive, and installed on the sata. At first they weren't visible until I changed the Sata Raid from IDE to AHCI.

How Far are you getting exactly? does the installer even load all the way?

Another thing you might want to try is pick up a cheap PCI-E graphics card. That may have had something to do with my installation success.

unfortunately the Lan and Sound wouldn't work for anything so I had to take that board back to the store so I can't help you with anymore testing on my end. Honestly, if you can grab a cheap Intel based gigabyte board off of ebay or something, pop your processor in that you should be up and running in no time. that's what im doing. cuz that board will probably end up giving you more headaches than it's worth
