Hello.

I am also interested in this subject. The discontinued Apple iSight, or various comparable webcams with noise-canceling microphones, auto focus and high quality lenses for use with a MacPro and a 23" aluminum Cinema Display.

It looks like the iSight "C" has the mount for the aluminum Apple Cinema Display. Does the "B" or "A"?

The iSight had a popular add-on called the Griffin Sight Light, which would illuminate your face from the front. Do any of the competition?

The iSight uses Firewire 400 instead of USB2.0. I believe that FW has less "Overhead" than USB. Would that matter?

My experience with Apple hardware has been stellar (so far) while I've had some disappointments with Creative hardware. (but not their software) Any thoughts?

Personally, I'm inclined to go with a used iSight.

Has anyone any experience with the iSight?

Thank you,

Keri

A little research indicates that the Creative Optia uses the vastly inferior CMOS sensor (as do most other webcams) while the iSight uses a CCD sensor like better digital cameras do.

Personally, im using a Used iSight Camera (Latest Model)

And i thought its image quality is Crystal clear, but no.

It shows some Colour spots all over the place and they move, so its not the problem of the lenses.

Anyone got any idea wether the Creative Cam Live! Optia AF is better or not?

Why is everyone touting the Optia?

I'd be more incline to try a Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro, designed for Mac. (the autofocus is built into the hardware and doesn't rely on PC software)

The Optia uses a CMOS sensor! Only the very cheapest digital cameras and phone cameras use those. Along with nearly all other cheapie Webcams from Creative, Microsoft and Logitech. I'm not sure what the Vision Pro uses.

The iSight uses a decent CCD sensor and presumably good optics. It's bound to be an excellent camera. If it's working properly that is.

I just won a nice condition iSight on eBay last night. I can't wait to see how it does.

Maybe we could chat and see if there's a difference between the two?

OMG! It got here already! It's in excellent condition and came with the box too.

here's an iSight pic
