veamon
Right now I have 768mb ram, and a video card that doesnt support quartz extreme. Due to budgets, I'm going to upgrade one this month, and the other the next. My question is, which should I do first, performance wise? Also, I have a 3ghz processor. vbetts
How much of a budget are you on, and what is the rest of your hardware? (I would say go with the video card first) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/116736-graphics-card-or-memory/#findComment-826748 Share on other sites

veamon
768mb, just your standard 184 pin ddr. I believe its pc2700. My card is an nvidia geforce mx400 /128mb, which I would have assumed would have been fine. I did just use the nvinject drivers, wasnt sure if others would work. vbetts
If it's in a set of 512 and 256, take out the 256, and you can find cheap 512 pc2700 for cheap on ebay. And I would say you can get like an 8400, or 8600. veamon
The memory isn't really the problem, I can get another gb for about $20 here. Just that and the graphics card at one time. Also, the 8400 is PCIexpress, I only have PCI and AGP slots.
