iZealot Posted July 19, 2008 Share Posted July 19, 2008 Hello! Got a big problem here. I´ve installed Kalyway 10.5.2 the other day, evertyting is working relativly good. But I knowtised, that my Zepto Znote 3215W is getter very hot, even if OS X is idle. It´s almost like the "built in" sensors that "feels" the warmth of the CPU and system don´t work and the fans don´t accelarate. Has anyone had similar problems with laptops? Zepto 3215W custom: CPU: Intel Core Duo T2370 (1,73) (working) Chipset: Intel GM 965 +GMCH / ICH8-M "Crestline" (working) Audio: Realtek ALC268 (working with customized drivers) Graphics: Intel GMA X3100 (working) LAN: Broadcom 5906M (NOT working) WiFi: Intel Wireless 4965AGN (NOT working) Motherboard: Intel (Something) (working) EDIT: There is no heat problem under Windows XP. Where can I find AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext? I´ve tried to search with spotlight, but no restults where found. I´ve also tied to use CPUthottlerbeta2 with the right *.kext. No change, no fans speeds up and the CPU gets hot. I´ve also reinstalled OS X to realy ensure that the speedstep kernel is installed. iZealot Posted July 22, 2008 Author Share Posted July 22, 2008 Okey, I´ve installed "ACPICPUThrottle.kext" to my OS X partition, and the fan starts to speed up a little when the CPU is hot. But it´s still not enough. Is it possible to for the fans to work like this after the ACPICP kext to work? Is there a program where I can monitor my CPU temperature? I almost "burn" mt fingers on the laptop chassie... and that´s not good. iZealot Posted July 23, 2008 Author Share Posted July 23, 2008 I reinstalled OS X with apple´s vanilla kernel. The computer don´t recognise my CPU (with is a Intel Core Duo 1,73 Ghz, T2370) and finds only one Core. The CPU don´t seems to evolve much heat, so it´s quite cool, but how is the CPU feeling? (only one core is working, can it be some damage done to the CPU or core?) How can I fix this annolying heatproblem and get the most of my CPU? Like I said, under Windows XP there is no heat problems... iZealot Posted July 24, 2008 Author Share Posted July 24, 2008 Some advancements: I tried to install an reinstall serveral editions of OS X 86. (to solve my heatproblem) And the installations just got worse and worse. For example: The first installation my CPU was detected as Core-Duo @ 1,73 Ghz some installations later, 1,73 Ghz Unknownd - 2 cores. some installations later, 1,73 Ghz Unknownd - 1 core. At this point I deleted to whole partition, and wrote zeros all over the disk with OS X´s diskutility. Reinstalled OS X and voala: CPU: Core-Duo @ 1,73 Ghz. And not to mention, speedstepping is working. But, I´m not that pleased with the speedstepping, it´s still a little hot for my taste. Is there anything I can do to improve the cooling? Maybe CPUThrottler2beta? What I whanted to say, that if you have problems with something and reinstalling won´t help, try to zero out the hardrive. It helped me.
