For quite some time now I plan to build a small media-pc for my kitchen.

Since touchpanels have gone really cheap I ordered one for a spare 17" TFT I own.

The touchpanel runs perfect and it is precise enough to click on the window-close-button with my fingertips.

So far so good - Apple prevents us from using touchscreens respectively a mouse with interessting applications like frontrow or backrow, also there is no method provided to input cahracters with a pointing device like a virtual keyboard.

What I like to do is build a small system that I can use to do some minor web-browsing as well as play music and stream video. The Intel D945GCLF mini itx mainboard with the 1.6GHz atom processor is my board of choice.

However - building it won't be any problem, using it without a keyboard will be a big problem.

What I need for this is an application that gives me a virtual keyboard that I can bring up with a fingertip. It should float on the most top layer of the gui and it should look apple-style, means not as ugly as "Touchstrokes" - it should be lightweight, customizable, semi-transparent.

Another need for it would be a second, smaller virtual keyboard that doubles the keys of the apple-remote.

There is someone at mp3car.com who did it for 10.4. but it doesn't run under leopard at all and he no longer develops on it.

So, if there is anyone here who can code and likes the idea of a nice, lightweight virtual input-device for Leopard I would be glad to hear from him/her. I can contribute with some nice ideas for the project, testing and graphics - unfortunately I can only code php & javascript so I can't be of any coding help.

I think if we can build something that works easy enough for everyone to configure and to use, me and many others out there who are interessted in using hacks/macs the same way will certainly pay for it.
