lfreitas
Well, i just installed the DVD PATCHED 10.4.4 with the 10.4.5 update in customize menu of instalation disk, i installed it natively, with boot DVD. the instalation run perfect, any errors... when i turn it on, i give a try at the Software Update button to see what will happen for my surprise, it found a Security Update for intel Systems, size 28Mb and the iTunes update either, ok so i PRESS update NOW. the download went well the instalation either, then the software ask me to restart, and then... no more OSX... i got the terminal window screen giving me several drivers errors and at the last line stops at the DISPLAY driver, matching fails.... and stop there... i try other solutions but didnt work. does anyone has this same problem ? there is something to do to avoid this crash, or the solution is to not download the SECURITY UPDATE ? thanks in advance to all and sorry for some poor english writing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11617-security-update-from-apple-for-intel/ Share on other sites
takeawaydave
Software updates should be disabled through System Preferences since they cannot be installed in the way Apple intended them to be. Eskurza
come on guys.. make a simple search. Secuirty Update is installable in many ways. 1- use pacifist to install, excluding loginwindow 2- Use "The M...'s" instructions to install 3- backup login window, install update, recover login window.. takeawaydave
Yep, but the thread was not about whether it can be done rather the trouble lfreitas got into when running Software Update... BTW any chance of a link to/ details of how to run the 10.4.5 install using pacifist? I'm not familiar with the utility.
