rsilves
Hi. I have these components: (only wrote the relevant ones for this problem) P5W DH Deluxe Q6600 4GB of RAM DDR2 800 (2 Kingston and 2 Corsair) The BIOS, when in "Auto" mode (no overclocking), recognizes the RAM as 667MHz. I tried using only the Corsairs, only the Kingstons, only 1 stick, and never made it change. I can easily change that using the Manual Overclocking setting in the BIOS (set the "CPU External Frequency" at 266MHz and the DRAM Frequency at PC2-6400). I restarted the computer today and the BIOS showed the memory as PC2-5300 (667), and then a message appeared saying that there was a problem with the overclocking/overvoltage and I could press F1 to go to Setup and F2 to "set defaults" and continue. Apart from that, the About My Mac always says that they are 667MHz, but the benchmarks change between the automatic and the overclocked mode (129 vs 179). Should I take the MoBo to the warranty or am I missing something? Thanks, Rodrigo P.S: I bought the RAMs in different places, different dates, and already checked them with Memtest. rsilves
becouse if one is or more are 667mhz all of them operate at that speed Yes, and if I don't have ink I won't be able to print... - That's not the problem, all of my sticks are 800MHz. Kingstons: 1x KVR800D2N6/1G (not using at the moment, latency 6) 2x KVR800D2N5/1G (lat. 5) Corsair: 2x CM2X1024-6400 G (XMS2 model, lat. 5) Rodrigo Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115462-bad-bios-configuration-or-failing-mobo-or-what/#findComment-817904 Share on other sites
westwaerts
had the same problem, my 800 were recognized as 667 too. thought my cpu-upgrade to q9450 was the reason ( with new bios) smbios.kext from macdotnub with hardcoded speed helped to bring izt back, where it belongs.
