Sleep power consumption

I got a fully working sleep mode:

standby led turn on, no fans, no noise, no heat, apparently everything is switched off.

But the trouble is that the battery lose 3% per hour of sleep..

And I am talking about one of that horrible-protruding-hugecapacity thinkpad batteries in perfect health!

Is it possible that all that power is wasted for simply keeping the ram active?!

Is it a real standby or am I missing something?

Hi,

i used the same method as you to get my sleep working.

I think it isn't pure hibernate because my laptop wakes up to fast.

When i open the lid i see my desktop in less than a second under linux i see the bios-screen than grub and than it take 5-10 sec to restore the ramimage.

But the led's show me hibernate and no fans too.

Thats in my system.log:

It's true.. Waking up is incredibly fast!!

AFAIK official Macs use a sort of hybrid suspend mode, keeping data on RAM and also writing a copy of its content to the disk in case of power loss. If RAM content is ok it's used for restoring system state before sleep, instead the disk image will be recovered.. So.. even waking up an of official Macs is exactly that fast.

I think that the problem has something related to EFI, maybe the kernel calls some specific function that hasn't yet been implemented well in pc_efi.. So the powersave feature isn't working as it should.

Any opinion?

(I'm running Vanilla 9.4)
