geiman
Hey all, I've got an MSI 8800GTS 512MB G92 that I cannot get to work in OS X Leopard. Does anyone know of a method that will make this card work? I have an nforce board, fyi, the rest of my specs are in my sig. So far I've used NVInject, NVInstaller, and NVKush, as well as editing the kexts myself. Any help would be appreciated. toolshed
Have you applied the Leopard Graphics Update 1.0? I'm running an 8800GS 384MB with no problems. I upgraded to 10.5.3 and used the NVinject 0.51 (vanilla kernel) It was real easy, not sure why you are editing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114500-8800gts-512mb-g92-cannot-get-it-to-work/#findComment-810762 Share on other sites

geiman
toolshed, yes, I did try the graphics update, but for some reason it wouldn't boot without the -x boot flag. However, if I boot with the -x flag after the graphics update, it starts up with my normal resolution, but there are graphic problems, such as artifacts left on the screen; much like the intel 950gm used to leave behind. tuukka H, I'll have to try that, haven't played with 10.5.3 much yet Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114500-8800gts-512mb-g92-cannot-get-it-to-work/#findComment-810821 Share on other sites
tuukka H
What I did was that I copied all the same files from 10.5.3 pkg that was in graphics update to extensions folder via pacifist and then just did the permissions repair.. But I am using 10.5.4. If u are vanilla its easy to update. No need to edit kext files. Hopely u get it working.. sg
you basically have to edit your all your geforce kexts to only contain the device ID of your 8800GTS. the problem is real macs don't have nforce chipsets and the Geforce drivers are trying to bind themselves to your nforce hardware/device IDs. so by removing the device id range from the Geforce kexts and simply putting in your 8800GTS id it will work. there's guides and info on the specifics about getting nforce and geforce cards working.
