I did a restore of my boot partition from the backup image. Prior to the restore, everything is working except the iLife (all applications crash everytime I tried to start them). After restoring from the backup image of the boot partition, my hackpro never boot up. It won't show any sign of booting! Only blinking cursor at the upper-left corner...

The following are the steps I took:

1. Reboot the system with the Kalyway Installation Disc.

2. Load up Disk Utility

3. Erase the boot partition with the "Zero Disk" option.

4. Restore from the backup image.

5. Reboot and nothing...

I tried to use Disk Utility from the DVD boot disc afterward to see if there is anything wrong with the restored partition. Disk Utility sees the partition perfectly. But when I use "Startup Disk", no disk is shown, only a "boot from network".

I don't know what's wrong, Is there anyway I could check/set the boot partition in the partition table? or something else I screwed up?

Thanks in advance...

Gujal,

Thanks for the information. Could you provide more information how to do this? I am kinda new to OSX system.

Install a boot loader sounds to me is to reinstall the whole thing. But I don't want to do that. I am just wondering

if there is a way I could fix the machine to make to boot after restore.

Thanks a lot.

Installing a Bootloader is just what the name says, installing the bootloader. It is a small package about 900K which when run installs the Bootloader which is required after a System Restore

It is available here
