I installed by using Chamelon EFI and the Retail Leo installer. Then I updated to 10.5.4.

I was able to get sound working by installing ALCinject.kext and by using the HDA Patcher 1.20 and a codec dump I created using a LiveCD of OpenSUSE. Problem is that after a couple reboots, audio stops working. I've tried retracing my steps but still can't get audio to work again.

I also noticed that sometimes the kexts aren't loaded. Even if I use a kextload command, it doesn't stick so when I reboot they're still not loaded. To resolve this I added the following to /etc/rc

kextload /System/Library/Extensions/ALCinject.kext

kextload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

Now, when I reboot, they're loaded, but audio still won't work.

I've also tried HDAEnabler over ALCinject and still have the same problem.

I'm still a noob when it comes to osx86, but usually I can solve most of my problems by scouring these forums but this one has me stumped. Could an EFI string fix this issue? That's the only thing I haven't tried simply because I don't yet understand how to make them

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: It looks like the kexts unload after about a minute of being loaded....

it happens to my DFI p35 T2rs too, but i redownload it from taruga's wiki and repatch ,finally it solves this problem. but i felt like the sound a bit distorted if the volume too high.. im not sure.. anyone could clarify this?

I tried repatching but it didn't help. I figured out how to get it back in the last hour though.

I use kextload to load both ALCinject and AppleHDA again (HDAEnabler doesn't work for me) and delete the Extensions.mkext file and the com.apple.kext.info under System/Library/Extensions/Caches and reboot. As long as I do it fast enough that neither ALCinject nor AppleHDA unload themselves, I'll have audio again. No idea how many reboots it takes to break again though, but it's not many =P
