I cannot get a successful boot.

Presently I'm using Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD to install with.

I've tried tons of configurations (kernels, drivers, patches, gpt, mbr, you name it), but to keep it simple I am now focusing on vanilla kernel with drivers for ATI 3850.

Install succeeds apparently, but booting with -v I always hang somewhere around:

/usr/sbin/ocspd[72]: starting

or

localhost mDNSResponder mDNSResponder-170 .... : starting NTFS volume name, version 3.1

The point to which I reach in the -v boot can vary slightly if I use -f, but pretty much hangs right around the same point with a quick flicker of the screen. If I use -f I end up getting "Still waiting for root device" message.

Here's my hardware:

IP35 Pro (tried bios 14,16 and 17. currently on 14)

Intel Q9450 Core 2 Quad

8GB RAM

LG Blu-Ray DVD/DVD-RW

Diamond HD 3850

Seagate 300Gb 7200rpm SATA

This is hell.

Seems like it was easy to install iatkos on the random hardware box i just got rid of.

I go out and spend money on new components thinking I'm building something really nice here and I cant get in!!!

Can anyone try to help me work this out?

The motherboard shouldn't be a problem. I'm running the IP35 and it works. I believe it's a graphics card problem. I kept getting the same stalls when figuring out how to run a PCIe and PCI card at the same time. Was a EFI string issue.

Some things you could try:

1. Try booting in safe mode, -v -x -f seemed to work for me whereas -v -x sometimes didn't. If you can boot into safe mode, try repairing permissions and deleting caches (including the extension cache).

2. Try setting your computer to initialize the PCI slot first for graphics. I don't know why but my PCIe+PCI setup won't start if this is not set.
