I am about to buy a new computer and I need both OS X and Vista to work perfectly. I want to use OS X as my main operating system but I need Vista to work flawlessly because I work at Microsoft and need Vista to do my development work.

Price is not an issue here. I just need both to work perfectly. So do I find the most compatible parts and build a hackintosh or buy a Mac Pro and install Vista using Boot Camp (or just dual boot)? With compatible parts will a hackintosh work 100% of the time? And is it easy to update when new updates (like 10.5.4) come out? Or will Vista on Boot Camp work 100% of the time no problem? And if I want to install the next version of Windows (since I get developer betas) will they work fine on the mac?

I'm currently running Zephyroth 10.5.2 on an AMD system and it works find 99% of the time but seems to kernel panic randomly. If I were running on a compatible Intel system would I be completely free of problems?

Running on an Intel system would reduce your chance of problems. Intel systems let you use PC-EFI (EFI Emulator) which allows you to use Apple Vanilla Kernels (Un-modified) and lets you use the system updater (built in one). Also keep in mind, No OS is free of glitches (even Linux) :(

If money is no object, a Mac Pro runs Windows as perfectly as any other set of hardware. Apple provides drivers and full support. Vmware Fusion also runs vista and XP pretty flawlessly, so you also have that option.

The reason to go with a hack is usually to save money over a Mac Pro. I have a Mac Pro and a hackintosh, and I can say emphatically that the mac pro is easier to maintain with regards to OSX.

I'm worried that a Mac Pro wouldn't work well with beta versions of the next Windows. Would it?

If I run a hackintosh on an Intel based system can I just use the retail Leopard dvd? And it should work no problem with Snow Leopard and further updates?

Maybe if you, are, share those new versions of Windows with us we can, are, check them for you. :( But all jokes aside it seems that you need a Mac Pro. If you want everything to work perfectly and money is no object get a Mac Pro because you then know that there will be no surprises with lose of data or anything like that. The next beta versions should work because you could just do the Boot Camp process again and instead of installing Vista you can just install the Beta version. Although the drivers would probably not work as it is a new version. I find it quite ironic how you work at Microsoft and yet you want to use Leopard. Wonder what Bill Gates thinks about that!

I hope this helps
