Hi,

Im running Aitkos2.0i 10.5.2 on a HP 6510b Laptop. Everything works except for Ethernet (Damn Broadcom!) and Wifi... :D

Using Vanilla Kernel

So Im trying to transfer files to my laptop from the Desktop machine using the "Target Disk Mode" with Firewire

I tried:

1. Pressing "T" during boot time ... (nothing happens, the Firewire Logo didnt appear, and ended up booting normally)

2. Choosed in System Preferences -> Startup Disk -> Target Disk Mode (It says click restart to boot into target disk mode.. but nothing, no results, it just booted up )

Anyone tried this on their hackintoshes? Dont know what else to do, or where to look for.

Any help appreciated

Thanks in advance.

:D x10

It a HP!!! not a Macintosh!! The boot keys only work on Apples!

The best solution is to remove the drive and stick it in a USB cradle!

Thanks for the reply...

But why does it only work on "real apples" ??

As this is something within the EFI Bios... I thought this was allready emulated in the latest releases (Kaliway,Iatkos etc..)?

Will it be emulated in the future??

Thanks

The EFI "emulators" just translate the small subset of EFI calls used by the kernel into BIOS calls. They don't actually emulate Apple's EFI firmware... that would require users to extract an Apple firmware from their real intel macs, much like Basilisk II and SheepShaver require Apple firmwares (extracted from their 68k and Old-World PPC macs, respectively) to run.

Will it be emulated? It may be possible to hack it into a virtualization program, but there would be a significant slowdown as the OS would be running in a virtualized environment, VMware style.

What if you want to mount a real mac (Macbook Pro) using target disk mode onto a Hackintosh host computer?

It works without any problem or configuration at all, just plug the firewire cable and mount the mac on target disk mode in your hackintosh.

I do this all the time.
