You're buying a $300 proc and a $280 mobo and you want to skimp on a power supply? That's not very smart, man.

around how much should i pay for it?

First figure out what size you need for your application and add some wattage for growth if you feel you need it. This will help:

Next buy a supply from a quality company. Sparkle Power/FSP, Enermax, PC Power & Cooling, Delta Electronics. All the consumer grade supplies with all the wiz-bang lights and colors that claim to do everything but wipe you ass for you are total rip-offs and total garbage. You're paying for the glitz and not quality electronic components. Lots of folks will probably disagree with me and claim their super duper nuclear 10000 gigawatt green lucite monster with the 1000000 candlewatt leds and glow in the dark modular cables is the best in the world and worth the $300 they paid for it. They're idiots, believe me. Why should you listen to me? You shouldn't. Do your own research, learn to read specs, ask serious overclockers because they want the maximum in stable power. But don't just listen to me just because I happen to know exactly what I'm talking about. :)

Well I am building something similiar:

Q9450 Intel Processor

Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R Motherboard

8 GB Gskill PC2-1066

Gigabyte Radeon HD 3870

Seagate Barracuda 250 GB

I went with this power supply:

Corsair CMPSU-520HX 520W ATX12V v2.2 Power Supply

You can also get a Lite-On 20X SATA DVD for about $15 more on the combo deal with this power supply. Since I am building up a new system I can use a SATA DVD
