sunlite
hi, i got iatkos 2i installed on my machine. i now want to update the system to 10.5.4. if i do this there is no danger to get fu**** because i use iatkos 2i, right? and the next question: there is a combo-update to 10.5.4. can i installed it and use it without changing anything? or does this update changes the kernel for example that my system will not work at the end again? thx a lot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/113459-softwareupdates-from-apple/ Share on other sites
Gujal
Combo update has all sorts of kexts and kernel, will surely kill your install. If you are currently running 10.5.3, you can do an update thorugh Software Update to 10.5.4 safely, however you may have to install modbin 9.4 kernel (if you are not running vanilla currently) after update and BEFORE rebooting Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/113459-softwareupdates-from-apple/#findComment-803609 Share on other sites

Just hit F8 at startup and boot off of and older kernel (such as modbinkernel) and then download and apply the 9.4 modbin kernel. OR, if you don't want to go to the 9.4 kernel just copy modbinkernel to mach_kernel and you can use the 9.3 one.
