Hi Guys, First post here. Have been doing a heap of reading about installing Leo onto PC. I have got Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Intel_Amd (sse2/sse3) EFI V8. I have tried to install on 2 different PC's. I have tried to find an earlier version too, but nothing on Newsgroups.

The specs on the first one are:

Intel P4 ® ASUStek P4B533VM

1024 MB DDR Ram

XP Pro (with a fresh partition for os x)

The 2nd Machines specs are:

AMD Athlon 64x2 4600+

Gigabyte GA-M56S-S3

Nvidia GeForce 8500gt

2 gig DDR2 Dual cahnnel Ram

XP Pro (with a fresh partition for os x)

With both attempts at instal, i get to the Darwine loader and hit enter, it goes throught a little process then comes back to the darwine screen again. I have tried to install in safe mode too.

I have been trying to do as much research as poss, but I am stuck (and the wiki page is down atm)

Thanks in advance

i´m not quite sure, but i think the better option to install osx on one of your machines is the P4 with the P4B533VM mainboard.

your mainboard has at least an intel-chipset and hopefully a complete supported CPU. the latest p4 support sse3...

so maybe you want to check out the hardware compatibility lists (HCL) yourself.

you may also try to use booting in verbose mode, to see where booting goes wrong. when osx starts to boot, just type "-v" to enable verbose.

I have an Asus P4 P800se mobo P4 3Ghz sse3 it runs ok and even with retail Leo 10.5.3 so it should be possible. Try install on a seperate HD instead probably much easier and check out your video card for compability. If it´s an onboard maby it does´nt work with the mac stuff. In that case if you have an AGP slot go for a PNY 6200 256 mb card, it works I have one in my P4 rig. You could also try to reduce your graphics Aperture Size to the lowest in your Bios:

Advanced/Chipset/Advanced Chipset Settings

That is ofcourse if you have that option in your Bios.

Good luck

Thanks star, I have got a spare hdd, but doesnt fit into computer case (not enough room) on my intel machine. I have reduced the Graphics aperture size to lowest size in Bios too, Still not installing. I am fairly sure it has on board graphics. The computer actually restarts after a red line appears on screen during the darwin boot screen.

Any other things to try?

I also have an Acer Extensa 5220 Laptop, but would prefer to leave that alone(but if all else fails will give that a try)

Cheers Sinkers

Belle, no I dont even get that far. Darwin wont run, just keeps restarting PC135 views and not a lot of help. I know I am a Noobie, but with the wiki page not working, I cant seem to find much else to assist me.Please help a few of us Noobs, then we may be able to help others at a later date.Thank You

Have since found out some more info. I have a SATA optical drive on my AMD machine and am getting the "waiting for root device" error.

AMD Athlon 64x2 4600+

Pretty sure it has a 940 chipset

Gigabyte GA-M56S-S3

Nvidia GeForce 8500gt

2 gig DDR2 Dual cahnnel Ram

XP Pro (with a fresh partition for os x)

Any ideas please?

No mate, no luck. I am about to give up, because I am not getting anywhere with it and not much help either.

940 chipset?.It has a nForce 560 chipset...

Question:are you using an IDE CD/DVD drive?.Maybe that is your problem. If you have an IDE drive, maybe you can skip that 'waiting for root device' error with a SATA CD/DVD drive. .Setting SATA to AHCI on your BIOS settings helps in some cases
